I am writing this having just left my daughter's last performance ever with DTLBR School. Alexa has been a student here since almost day one. Her 1st lesson was on October 19, 2011, a day that changed her life in ways that would make any parent proud. While the clear intent is to teach kids how to play Green day songs, it has become so much more than that. I have always believed that there was much more to education than what can be learned in a classroom, and this place is a picture perfect example of that. Alexa began at the rock school literally afraid to look at anyone, and was very determined to become a part of the couch. That changed pretty quickly, and it became obvious that if you scratched the surface a little bit, there was much more to be seen and learned here.
You see, while music looks to be the main objective, these kids learn so much more than that. They learn team work. They learn to be accepting of others. They learn patience. They learn compassion. They learn to be understanding. They learn conflict resolution. They learn self expression. Oh, and they do learn music as well. The teachers such as Brian Hannon, and Andre Karkos are professional working musicians, with substantial success in the music industry. Your child learning music from people who a have enjoyed success and earned a living doing it, is invaluable all by itself.
Enrolling your child in this program will be a solid decision that will help your child to make new friends some of which will become life long friends. They will mature quicker. They will become truly productive people with a skill set envied by any adult when it comes to intrapersonal relationships. As a parent, you will have many proud moments with your kids, as I have. Many of them will come while you are watching them perform on stage. But I will let you in on a little secret. The proudest moment of all will not happen at the very end, as they are taking the stage as a student at the Delco Let There Be Rock School for the past time. You will quickly realize that the kid taking the stage is a very different, more mature, and more dedicated, compassionate person than the one whose hand you could feel shaking as you held it while walking I to the rock school for the very first time. That's when you'll realize you no longer need to hold that hand. The mind attached to it is fully capable of handling much more...
Read moreI first started taking lessons here early December last year, and I honestly could not be more happy with the decision to come here! When I first started I had a really low self esteem and could barely speak five sentences let only sing in front of a crowd. However once I started taking vocal lessons with Melissa that all changed. Melissa helped me discover a confidence I never knew I had, and I can't thank her enough. Melissa works with me to my strengths and if something doesn't work she always has a different, better way to approach it in order for me to sing correctly. She is always in couraging and only wants the best for me and the rest of her students. Melissa also has helped me with my original songs helped me get started with playing the piano, which I now am taking lessons. I'm also in the band program and Melissa has helped me perfect the songs we play in way that is best for me. I am so happy to be part of the band program because it has helped me to break out of my shell and inner act with other people at the school.
Melissa, John, and the rest of the Let There Be Rock School staff are all amazing. They always are willing to help people and always have a smile on their faces. They are genuine, kind people who truly want to see the kids they work with succeed and be confident in what they are doing. They all make such a positive impact on everyone and provide a positive work zone where no one feels alone or left out.
I know coming here was a good idea because I feel like I can finally be me. When I'm at the school I know I won't be judged because I'm different. Everyone has there own different friend groups, but here everyone forgets about labels and excepts each other for who they are.
Now even though I've only attended the school for a little while, I'm so excited to see the future success that the school will have. Also I'm excited to see how I will grow as an artist and a musician because at the Delco Let There Be Rock School they help you to accomplish your goals in...
Read moreI have been a student at Let There Be Rock School for about 10 months now and I love it. I sing lead vocals in a band and I also take vocal lessons from Melissa. Melissa has helped me build my confidence so much! Without her, I would still be very insecure and shy. She has helped me see that if I go for it, I can do it and to have more confidence in my voice. I am also in another band that I play piano in and sing back up vocals/harmonies for. I couldn't really play piano too well when I first started lessons, but I have an amazing teacher. She has taught me so much and now I can sing and play together! In my vocal lessons, I get to work on perfecting my band songs. When I'm done with them I work on other cover songs or I work on some of my original songs. Melissa is always excited to hear my original songs and helps me with them. John works extremely hard to schedule so much. He always has it all come together with all the times, students schedules, and teachers schedules. He is very understanding, approachable and always greets me every time I walk into the school. I have also had so many opportunities to perform out in public and have got great exposure from it. I may get a little nervous at first, but once I get on stage it all goes away. My family and friends always come out to support me and all the other students. All the shows we do are always so much fun! The teachers are very talented and great to work with. They are able to give good advice through experiences they have had. This school is like a second home, there's a lobby where kids can hang out. Even some kids who don't play in a band or take lessons are allowed to come and relax. I have made a lot of new friends since I've joined and I always look forward to coming to practice. Overall, I l love it here and wouldn't want to be doing anything else. I can't wait to see what the future holds and it can only get better! If you or anyone you know wants to take music lessons, I highly recommend coming to Delco Let There Be...
