I live in rural Virginia and my choice for service and repair is to ship units or drive to Lee Hartman & Sons via a 5 hour round trip drive. I made the best choice ever by going with the drive to Lee Hartman & Sons. First of all, they blew me away with their customer service. They all have a passion for audio equipment as I do. They treat it as if their own equipment. Shout out to the whole service department with a special thanks to Vicki, Jerry and Tai. I dropped off 3 vintage 70's stereo equipment along with this modern TEAC AD-RW900. Jerry is handling the vintage and Tai took on this TEAC. Wow, am I impressed! I just completed setting it back up in the system. The cassette deck was down for the count. Tai got it back in the ring again for me. It is performing BETTER then new. Tai replaced the belt, cleaned the unit along with a lubrication where needed to keep it going smooth. He ensured all was aligned in the cassette deck. I just played a pre-recorded tape encoded with Dolby B. It was flawless. If not properly aligned, Dolby B can "muffle" the high frequencies. The high frequencies are crystal clear with Dolby B on. Actually too bright if not turned on. So my ears clearly tell me Tai got it right on this deck. Super impressed and can't wait for the other 3 units to get their service. I have many more vintage units waiting to bring to Lee Hartman & Sons. I am really into vintage audio (mainly silver face 70's Pioneer). They are now my "go to" people to help me keep my passion with audio equipment alive and kickin'. Well, better get back to this great TEAC Deck. I am having so much fun with it once again. Thanks Tai, Vicki and Lee Hartman for the awesome service on my TEAC! I am adding to this review as I picked up 3 more cassette decks that were in for service and repair with Lee Hartman & Sons. These 3 units were serviced by Jerry as all were vintage gear. The beautiful Pioneer CT-F555 (1982 Model) was not recording. Jerry found the issue and was able to repair it via a replacement of part. The part cost was very reasonable and it definitely got the deck up an running in regards to the recording function working properly on the deck. For good preventive measures, Jerry replaced the belts on the deck. The 1976 Pioneer CT-F8282 had issues with tape speed. Jerry diagnosed the speed issue to be caused by improper belts used on the deck, along with the motor pad needing a rebuild as it was pulling on the motor. The deck is now functioning at the correct speed and sounding great! The CT-F700's issues were all corrected and repaired. It needed a Dolby B Lamp replacement, re-calibration of the Dynamic meter along with repairing the auto shut off mechanism as the deck was not shutting off when at the end of a tape. Thanks for helping get these decks back up and running! Lee Hartman and Sons are the best in repairing vintage gear. When I picked up these 3 decks, I dropped off 4 additional cassette decks for service and repair. The invoice cost was very reasonable for the decks picked up today. I am adding them...
Read moreWhile I have never worked with or have had any work done with Lee Hartman & Sons, I can honestly say after today they will not be my first choice. I experienced some very reckless, erratic and rage filled driving from one of the employees today. While driving with my children in my minivan, I was actually fearful of the driver behind me hitting me or following me home based on his driving. I could not even see the headlights in the front of the truck due to him following so close behind me. I only know it was a Lee Hartman & Sons truck because I was able to see as he passed me when I turned and could see the side of the truck. I would not want someone driving a vehicle and representing my company being that dangerous on the road. Speaks very poor of that driver and the company he represents. Not that it matters because it is inexcusable but I was in fact driving 35 mph in a 30 mph zone. Bad...
Read moreLee Hartman and Sons, a regional franchise, on Cove Rd. is a fantastic business whether one is searching for photographic, audio-visual, electronic setups, or late model TVs. I started going to them about a decade ago for photographic equipment and advice. Most recently, I took my decades-old TV in to see if it could be repaired. Not only did they repair it by installing a new part, but delivered and setup the TV at my home after several telephone calls to make sure I would be available. The two men with the delivery made sure that my TV was not only properly installed and compatible with my internet modem for streaming, but that I was comfortable with operating it. The repair price was reasonable and clearly explained on the invoice. Every employee that I came in contact with whether in the store or on the telephone was polite, knowable and friendly. I am a firm fan of...
