We stayed here for a weekend wedding! We checked in Friday evening right before an event dropped off our stuff, quick change and left. While I was in the bathroom we noticed rust under the sink that had dripped onto the floor and the bathroom honestly just didn’t look clean. We checked the sheets to ensure they were clean and since they were we decided it wasn’t a big fuss. The beds were very comfy and after our first event of the weekend we did sleep great! The next day we get up and go to a local restaurant to watch the VT Hokies noon game before the wedding. Upon return our bed hadn’t been made (no worries, I can live with that), our towels hadn’t been changed (again I can live with that) and we found a dentures cleaner wrapper on the bathroom floor, a soda can tab and something that looked like the end of a glasses leg. Indicating someone had been in our room, considering my boyfriend and I are 30 and don’t wear glasses, dentures and hadn’t drank anything in our room except water. While I was sooo suspicious my boyfriend assumed we just didn’t see it from the night before because we were in and out. I was confident because the night before I was unsure about this room and checked it out. Anyway as I was getting ready for the wedding the hairdryer didn’t work so he called the front to get a new one and it took over 20 minutes for someone to bring it so he just walked up there for me. We were on the first floor, so why not? There he also asked for another towel for him since our room wasn’t cleaned today. The front desk said are you sure it’s checked off as it was. He said he was positive, everything seemed to be left like it was minus a few things of trash being on the floor that did NOT come from us. I’m not certain how the rest of that convo went but he doesn’t normally argue things so he just got our items and came back where he proceeded to tell me I was correct about people being in our room!!!! But now doing what?! With our things in here?!? We think we have everything my purse was with me for lunch so that’s the most important. But it’s just so concerning. And then no one offered to do anything. I was determined to talk to someone prior to the wedding but we literally didn’t leave the hotel until 4:28 for a 4:30 wedding, luckily it was down the street and they didn’t start on time. But on the way out I did go to the desk and ask if a manager would be there this evening because I had concerns about the room. The lady said the assistant manager would be.
We left, enjoyed the wedding and proceeded to go out afterwards. When we got back I was sooo sleepy and there was no front desk host in sight so I wasn’t waiting and just went to bed.
This morning at check out the front desk lady was soo nice although she said she wishes we had told this on the first day. She’s right I should’ve said something immediately but, we just kept thinking the best for the hotel and that was our fault. I wish when we addressed it night two before the wedding with the front desk they had offered to do something then.
It is what it is, but I just don’t understand why people are accessing our room either not doing their job or without permission so that makes this hotel rank poor in my book. That is...
Read moreWe checked in on 4/29/2021. We made a reservation for the pool 10-10:45pm. We went to visit some family and returned to the hotel at 10. We got to the pool approximately 10:20. The water was cold so we returned to our room at 10:40 pm. At 11:44 front desk associate Don knocked our door, saying its been several complaints for several hours about the noise. He said he could hear us from the elevator. We were confused because we had just returned to the hotel. So my husband and I went down to talk to Don. We wanted to know the hotel policy on noise. He begins stating Roanoke noise ordinances like we should know. Basically telling us no noise after 12am. Once again we asked him what's the hotel policy on noise, still no definitive answer. Then we address the several complaints and several hours comment. Explain to him we just returned to the hotel. He then says it wasn't several complaints or several hours but one guest who had a 5 am flight. Then he said we were not loud or yelling. We couldn't believe how he over exaggerated the complaint. We advised him we're paying guest as well and how he handled the situation was wrong. Don took the word of the guest who complain without considering we are paying guest as well. The hall was very quiet, normal laughter and talking is going to sound louder. We booked a suite which means more than 2 people, it was 2 adults 2 children. We were watching TV, talking and laughing. Don never apologized for how he handle the situation. Don was very condescending when he spoke to us. We're Marriott reward members and always stay at Marriott properties. He had several opportunities to apologize but didn't. The next day we mentioned the situation to Karen, she apologized immediately. Definitely not satisfied with how my family was treated the first night of our stay. Don over exaggerated the complaint and...
Read moreLet me say that I had a rough time staying in this room last night. The floors in the room were nasty, meaning they had clothes tags, dirt, lint all over the floor like it had never been vacuumed. The smell throughout the hotel was that of carpet powder and for people sensitive to smells, I’d avoid this hotel. The small table had goop on them, and I took a wet Kleenex and wiped it down and it did come clean, so once again, not clean. The bed had a plastic tag trash in the made bed itself. I went to the car and bought in my own blankets to sleep on. I didn’t shower here at all because the tub/shower did not appear clean. This hotel needs updating too. The air conditioning unit whistled and was so loud I couldn’t leave the unit on. Honestly, I was so exhausted that I didn’t ask for a refund and go to a Hilton, and that is on me. But they never asked about my stay or if my room was in order, so I decided to share so others would know.
Here are the positives. There was a person working at the front desk both checking in and checking out of the hotel. The eating area bistro looked nice. And I am certain that cleaning help is hard to find in today’s work force, but don’t rent rooms if you can’t guarantee they are clean, because they are not cheap.
I took pictures, to show the floors, but with the busy carpet, it is hard to tell.
The manager responded and implied I didn’t stay there in which I do have a receipt. I stayed in room 318 under my full legal name. I do not post randomly, nor do I get paid to post. I am a business traveler who decided to try this hotel and was very disappointed, so decided to post...
