We drove 35 minutes from Goodview to this store to purchase a Samsung refrigerator that Home Depot had advertised for $2499.00. Before I go further, I want to be very clear, that the associate that helped us was very friendly and courteous. Anyway, we were told that the refrigerator was not available and that they had never had this model available.
The reason I'm writing this review is because I am tired of the poor customer service and treatment that we as consumers seem to be getting more often these days from stores like Home Depot. Home Depot by no means is alone. Practices like this are occurring with greater frequency these days. These corporate entities no longer have respect for the consumer, the people who spend their hard earned dollars purchasing their goods and services anymore. We're just expected to accept the poor quality and part with our cash. I wish more people would post these kinds of stories. I wish that they would be shared, go viral, and make headlines so that maybe, for the businesses and employers that have genuine integrity, it would have a true and lasting impact on some of the practices that they seem all too comfortable using these days.
If we as consumers would ban together and boycott using stores that practice these tactics then we could ultimately have a big impact on the way they do business, their pricing, and the behavior that some employees exhibit, i.e. rudeness, arrogance, and dismissiveness towards customers thinking that we have no recourse or choice. Forgetting that if not for us, they would not have a job.
If we would ban together as consumers and stand with one another then we, in our free market system, could force employers to be honest in advertising, produce professional respectful greatful employees, drive prices down, and improve the quality of the products we purchase. And this could be accomplished in every sector. For example, if we ban together and quit buying gas from from Exxon they would lower their price to earn business back. Then we collectively move back to Exxon another company would lower their price and so on.
Unfortunately nowadays we've allowed our government to divide us into political segments where we to busy fighting and arguing with one another and have stopped paying attention to everything else. Things like Home Depot's practices. If we would just stop for a moment and remember that "we the people" have the power and that these companies and our government exist because of us then we could turn the situation we find ourselves these days completely around. We would no longer be in a position where we just have to to accept bait and switch or other tactics that companies use just to get us in the door anticipating that we will give up and spend our money with them anyway. We've given up way too much it's time we stop allowing ourselves to be treated in this manner.
To wrap up this ranting, we did not spend our money with Home Depot tonight. We took it to one of their competitors. When you find yourself in a similar situation you should start doing the same and then writing a review for everyone to see. A call to the manager is no longer effective. A call, letter, or email to the corporate office is no longer effective because just one voice no longer matters to them. If reviews like this started circulating around the Internet we could have a much bigger impact. Only when the company's bottom line starts shrinking do they would take notice and begin changing their practices. Let's stop letting them divide us into groups and force them to see us as...
Read moreGoogle Review for Home Depot Appliance Order We had a terrible experience with an appliance order with Home Depot. We ordered a refrigerator and microwave from Home Depot on 7/5/19. GE Home Delivery Services is the supposed liaison between Home Depot and the 3rd party, contracted out delivery service, Forward Air. There were 5 scheduled delivery dates and there was something wrong each time. Our salesman neglected to tell us beforehand that the delivery people would not be able to connect the water lines, so we refused delivery. On the 2nd delivery, the refrigerator was dented, so they took the appliances back. On the 3rd delivery, they did not have the microwave or the upgraded, braided water line we ordered. On the 4th delivery attempt, they called and told us the truck broke down. On the 5th delivery, they did not have an order for the haul away of the old appliance, which we had paid for. After the 3rd delivery, I called Home Depot. A manager told me the order had been refunded. I talked with several managers at both Home Depot and GE Home Delivery Services, but no one could explain what happened, why our order had been cancelled, or why we were issued a refund. My husband checked his credit card statement and it does show that a refund was issued on 7/31/19. A manager at GE that I spoke with on 8/17/19 told me the order was cancelled on 7/15/19, which was actually our first delivery date. I cannot understand why, if our order was cancelled on 7/15, 4 more deliveries were scheduled. No one at Home Depot or GE knows what happened to our order. I talked to a manager named 'Bob' at GE on 8/19 to try and find out what happened with our order, and he has not called me back as of today (8/21). It's like our order slipped into a black hole, and no one was willing to accept responsibility for it and investigate what happened. And no one has contacted me to offer an apology. We will never order any GE appliances or any appliances from Home...
Read moreI ordered a RCA apartment size refrigerator online & had it delivered to the store for pick up for our place at the lake. The online experience was good…shipping was on time - really exceeded my expectations! I called the store to inform the associate that my brother-in-law would pick up the fridge instead of me - he has a truck - the associate was super helpful.
The fridge was picked up on Friday, July 9th @ 5:28pm…everyone works full time & my brother-in-law also works in retail so he works on Saturdays & again, he has the truck. The fridge was finally taken to the lake & installed on Sunday, July 11th @ 3:06pm. After the plastic was removed, a dent & a puncture mark was discovered…this did NOT impact the operation of the fridge BUT this is a brand new fridge & not a scratch & dent!
This Roanoke Home Depot store was called on Monday, July 12th @ 7:17am & I spoke to an associate who informed me that there was a 48 hour window on reporting issues but put me on hold anyway to speak to the major appliances manager, Sandy, who informed me of the same policy but asked what I was looking in compensation like some money back? I told her that I had not thought about it BUT this is a brand new product! She informed me that she would contact RCA & call me back. It is NOW Wednesday, July 21st @ 7:57pm & I have NOT heard back from Sandy.
So, I guess there is NO policy on a timeframe for customer service or common courtesy of a callback when it comes to customers who spend their money with Home Depot but customers are expected to report issues within 48 hours or else? I expected to get what I bought - a brand new product or perhaps RCA doesn’t want to stand behind their product? I don’t know because I never heard...
