We purchased tickets for the haunted house over 3 months ago at the Salem Fair. We're from Lynchburg, and drove for over an hour to get there. When we got there, we parked in the grass and waited for about 30 minutes to get on a trailer that went to the actual house. When we got to the ticket booth, an employee told my friends and I to go to the 'fast pass' lane that was set up since we already had tickets. We got to the entrance of the house and were told to walk all the way back around and wait in the long line. A few minutes later, we saw another group who seemed to have had the same experience. We thought that there was simply a miscommunication, but about 30 minutes later, the group behind us was taken to the front of the line. I think that the people allowed in the fast pass lane were friends of the cast and crew based on their interactions. We ended up waiting another 2 hours only to get to the front of the line and have to wait for 2 other groups with "fast passes" to go ahead of us. Then the guy at the door (who previously told us he wasn't accepting fast passes) asked if we had fast pass tickets. At this point, we were annoyed, but happy to be close to the entrance. There's an inside line as well, which we waited in for another 20-30 minutes. The disclaimers said a lot of stuff about what they don't allow inside the house and stated that if you have ANY medical conditions, you shouldn't go in. One of my friends got a little concerned and asked what she should do in case there was a problem. The man at the door told her to say "code red" if needed, so we were expecting an intense experience. Scaremare is better, cheaper, and lasts longer. I was bored even though I was in the front of the pack. They did a good job putting the house together and the actors were interesting, but nothing was really scary. When we got to the end, someone was shouting "here come four more", so we thought there would be another room. However, we got to the next door and it led outside. We were all surprised because we were only actually in the house for about 10-15 minutes. There is no "ultimate experience", so the ticket price is really not worth it. Also, outside of the house, one of the characters used a pop gun that was so loud some people thought it was real. I realize that we were in line for a haunted house, but with all that's going on in America, I didn't appreciate that addition. We won't be back this year - hopefully they...
Read more2023 review- BEST YEAR YET! Year after year of best haunt in Roanoke. We come every year, it's always different, always scary, always fun, always impressive. This thing gets bigger each year and it's a trip to watch it grow! The new animitronics are impressive! Great time, worth every penny.
2022 review- WOW! Even better! We missed this haunt for 2 years due to COVID and medical reasons last year, but we're back!! And this place has only gotten better! Very entertaining line with fire, music, dancers and actors, and the line moves quiet fast. Love the maze entrance to get you ready and love the new props! High quality good stuff all around. I genuinely got frightened 3 or 4 times. Usually I just scream for fun/over react a little for the actors benefit.....I genuinely got scared a few times and screamed for real haha. Actors were all on point, rooms were detailed, crowd was controlled and the entire experience was 100%. Roanoke has a REAL HAUNT!!! GET TO IT YOU ALL!!!!!
(Review from 2019)Highly recommend! Very great experience and amazing actors really into what they are doing. I will admit, this place is in the hood! But! Its very well lit, inviting, and easy to access and you do not feel sketched out at all there. Very helpful and nice staff!
The rooms are very very impressive. Tons of effort and details, take your time going through and look at all the cool stuff. The staff will even stay in character as they help guide you through some of the scenes (you get scared and lost in some of them, but they did great helping us all out while staying in character).
Its so cool to have something like this is Roanoke, the 20$ price tag did scare me at first, but after the visit, only the manor was terrifying!! Great job to the crew. Fun, funny, scary and nice! A+ a good half hour walk through and we only waited 20 minutes to get in. They pump...
Read moreVIP ticket is a must. We travel to extreme haunts and this is one of our favorites now. LINE: We went first so we only got to see warm up for the line experience but they have a DJ, flame blower and tasteful pole dancers to get everyone intrigued and amped up. INSIDE LINE: If outside didn't entice you enough, the inside surprised us more. The décor and themes were above expectation. I love subtle details like a window with various ghost hunting equipment and the small room that you can see a live python. HAUNT: The team is super passionate about what they do and they know how to divide and conquer. The haunt has very uniquely designed rooms and characters that are not just screaming in your face. They are gentle when touching but well timed. I love the use of heights. You did not experience everyone head on. Expect people from all angles. VIP: We had no idea what we were getting into but this was a blast. You must do what they say or quit. This is all psychological, not jump scare but it is fun. We went as a pair. I don't want to give anything away but I also want to help people deciding in the future. We left covered in paint and glitter. We may or may not have had to hit each other which could make for a hilarious ice breaker. You may do things that make you vomit but it does NOT HURT. We are not into extreme haunts that think pain is a great haunt. This was fun that you would have pranking friends. Our hosts were amazing. Innuendos, jokes, pushing limits and staying in character. I would go 100% over if I lived in this area. NOTE: They are clear about your clothes being ruined during VIP experience but don't forget to COVER your Car Seats and Seatbelts. Paint and glitter...
