I don't think it is fair to leave a 1* review for a business unless multiple negative experiences warrant it. At the end of the day, reviews can significantly affect public perception of an establishment, and mindlessly dropping negative reviews is careless at best.
That being said, Gamez & More has rightfully earned a 1* from me. The people I have interacted with at this store have made me never want to return. I have witnessed problem players, uncaring employees, and shortness on the phone from the owner, Chad.
Last year, I inquired about their products via phone. The store owner Chad was too busy and said verbatim, "I don't have time for this." He subsequently hung up. In what reality is it acceptable for a store owner to be short with a customer? Perhaps a store owner who doesn't care about keeping a customer?
The last two times I visited the store, I was not greeted by an employee, AND there was a problem player who was toxic, blatantly condescending, and disrespectful toward others. After notifying an employee about the problem player, I was met with apathy and avoidance. I had no sense that this employee cared about the escalating situation in the store, and they did nothing to address it.
If you are looking for quality customer service at a TCG store in Rochester, do not go to Gamez & More. Instead, check out Coulee, Nerdin Out, and/or Midwest Vintage. The employees at the aforementioned stores are fantastic; they actually greet you when you walk in the store, and the players are friendly, respectful, and focused on having fun.
TLDR; Quality customer service isn't difficult, but Gamez & More makes it seem impossible. Take your business elsewhere... You have...
Read moreThis place is not obvious from Broadway, although there is a business sign on the larger sign next to main road. It is just over halfway "back" along the strip of storefronts. We (a Generation X parent tabletop gamer, and two young millennials, or old Gen Z-ers, who play RPGs, all the tabletop games, console games, PC games, etc ) haven't been here more than a couple of times yet, but so far, we really like it. We felt welcome, and more comfortable in general than we have been at other "gaming" stores in Rochester, immediately upon walking in. There is a wide open gaming area with multiple tables in the "back room", and they have some gaming nights, and have even had a "Regional Championship Qualifying" tournament for Magic the Gathering. Maybe this will pick up as more interest is shown? The game selection in-store is surprisingly broad for a small independent store, and appeals to a wide range of ages: from 8 or 9 years up to adults. They can order just about anything for you, if they don't have it in stock, but they have a good selection of even the expansion packs for many popular tabletop games. Their prices on card sleeves (for MTG or Pokemon, or whatever) are much more reasonable than other nearby RPG stores that we have found; although they definitely don't have true "penny sleeves" either, as a store or two in Madison Wisconsin do. Overall, this place is great! It looks small-ish from the outside, but strikes one immediately upon entering as "bigger on...
Read moreGamez & More is an amazing tabletop gaming store! It's a bit hard to find in the strip mall as it's entrance is hidden by a tree. It has an incredibly large selection of games from every genre. I was particularly interested in the board games myself. The layout of the store was well thought out. The front of the store is all products while the back of the store is play space. The register is in the middle of the store facing the entrance, but has an open air window looking into the backroom play space. Upon entering I was immediately greeted by the staff. While perusing the merchandise, a friendly member of the staff answered my questions, made suggestions, talked about events and even told me the history of the store. I forget that guy's name, but he is an asset to this store. It is because of him that I returned the following day and to purchase several items. This is the kind of store I look for in the area I live in. This is by far the best table top gaming store I have found in the Rochester area.
