The ONLY REVIEW YOU WILL HAVE TO READ ON CROSSFIT CREDENCE!
I am writing this on the plane from Rochester back home to Arizona, but I need to get something off my chest. I spent a month at CrossFit Credence while doing a rotation at Mayo Clinic. I’ve been doing CrossFit since about 2011 and have visited my fair share of boxes and I believe CrossFit Credence is The. Best. Box. I. Have. EVER. Been. To!
The Facility First, the box is big. It’s mostly open concept with lots of space to hold classes. They have all the equipment from the basic barbells and rowers, to a bunch of assault bikes and ski ergs. Not only do they have a relatively large box, but the box itself sits almost exclusively on a giant lot with no other businesses around. This allows for outside WODs and uninterrupted workouts when running is involved. The gym itself is kept pretty clean for being a CrossFit box (Thanks Tye). They are always trying to make changes to improve their box. There are currently 2 bathrooms and 2 showers. I believe they are adding some more bathrooms, a hangout area, and moving their office to a second floor of the building. So far it looks really really nice!
The Classes The classes are super well run. Even though the classes can get MASSIVE in size, the coaches do a great job at keeping everyone moving and adapting on the fly. They actually lead you through a super thorough warm up and by the time the class is done, you leave wondering how they fit everything into a 1 hour class. They also are a box that doesn’t only focus on developing your technique and skill in CrossFit, but they like to add in a little bit of mindset development. This is an amazing addition that I have not seen anywhere else and I believe everyone could benefit from it.
The Community The community at CrossFit Credence is actually what separates this box from any other box. Somehow, CrossFit Credence has built a box completely ingrained within the community of Rochester. While I was there, I attended a BBQ to commemorate their (8th ??? I think it was their 8th) anniversary and I got to speak with the different members. I spoke to different people of different backgrounds who all talk about how CrossFit Credence has truly become a second family. I heard stories of how it worked wonders for their mental and physical health. I saw how close they were and how tight knit they were, yet I was also welcomed almost instantly into their community. Furthermore, CrossFit Credence has been able to walk the delicate tight rope of building a strong community while still also focusing on competitive crossfit. There are some BEASTS here at CrossFit Credence and their programming, their coaching, and the way they care about each member is the reason why.
Summary I can’t say enough about how amazing this box was. I will truly miss it and if I end up back in Rochester, I can 100% say without a doubt that I will be back! Not only did I want to write this review to tell the world about this place, but I also wanted to write this review as a way to thank Coach Dave and the rest of the CrossFit Credence Community! Being a part of this box for a month truly made my experience in Rochester super memorable! Thank you all and I hope to see...
Read moreHonestly, this gym is not what it is cracked up to be. You will see on this review page or on Facebook that this gym is like a family and that the owners and coaches treat everyone so well, but In fact that is completely false. When I began my cross fit journey, I started under the south branch of this gym with two of the best coaches that I have ever experienced. Then the owners decided to close the gym and screw over the best coaches they employ. So I went to the original location only to experience THE WORST fitness program I have ever participated in. The owners of this gym will tell everyone that they are welcomed in their gym and that they will help you reach your goals but that is such a lie. These people only care about taking your money and not helping you. Dave Timm only cares about himself and will fat shame you and dis you and your fitness level in front of everyone and make you feel worse about yourself than before you came in. He didn't even care enough to remember my name. He questioned my fitness ability in front of the whole class and made me not want to work out, which is the exact opposite of what you want of a fitness guru. These people are shady and just want your money. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO TO A...
Read moreI've been a member at credence now for over 3 years. Never did crossfit before but knew I wanted to try. First visit, before even picking up a barbell, I had a sit down with Coach Allie, and we talked about goals (personal and fitness). Started with beginners class to learn movements and built up to Rx workouts. Even had a major setback with knee surgery and wanted to quit. Coach Josh and Coach Tye worked with me for a year to customize workouts to my limitations. No extra cost, not feeling forced to stay a member for business reasons. They did it because they are amazing coaches who want all members to stay active, fit, and achieve their goals. Now I'm literally the strongest I've been in my life! I'm a part of a positive incredible community that will always pick you up when you're down. I joined 3 years ago not knowing the positive changes that were about to happen physically, mentally, and spiritually. It's a gym, it's family, and I know I'll be here for years to come! So there's my little tribute. Thank you Coach Dave and company! And if you're reading this and wondering if credence is right for you, come in and talk with any coach. You'll meet some amazing people here and see what community...
