Today I was garage sale shopping and decided to go to Maurices. I wasn’t really dressed to shop, I just threw something on, we know how garage sales are but I decided to go anyway. The store was beautiful, clean and neat. My kind of store. While shopping I had picked a dress and continued to shop. A young sales lady walked past me to the Caucasian lady who also had items in her hand and asked her if she would like to try that on, the lady said yes and she took her items, walking past me again taking the lady’s items to a dressing room. I thought well maybe she’ll come back and ask me, well she didn’t. I was offended but I continued to shop hoping that maybe she would but no, she remained in the dressing room area as if I wasn’t there. I took the dress to the young lady that was at the register and informed her of what happened. I’m a black woman, I know it doesn’t make a difference if I purchase there or not, they’re going to continue to make sales but I refuse to be ignored as if I don’t exist.
