The worst tattoo experience I’ve ever had. Made boundaries, price range, and how long I expected the tattoo to take very clear from beginning. Took over 5 hours to do just the outline of the tattoo. A outline that on one side is significantly less pigmented than the other. Decided to come back another day as I had other plans to attend to because I did not expect it to take that long. Artist told me shading would take 3 or four hours as well. I was getting a chest piece done that included a couple flowers and a sun. Very minimal detail as well. Got home and ultimately decided that it was best for me to not come back at all. Texted the artist and was very polite and even complimented her because the issue was not the art itself but the timing. Artist got very defensive and said “with all due respect, you don’t actually know how to tattoo or know what should have taken how long”. Never claimed to know how to tattoo but I definitely do know the time range of how long certain aspects of a tattoo should take. I have over 12 on my body. Many people including tattoo artists have given me reassurance that what happened was not normal. The artist also told me that no artist could get my piece done in 4 hours and have it look good. I know many artists that are able to do that. Although, I would absolutely understand a tattoo like mine not being able to get done in four hours based on the artist, but to take 5+ hours to do an outline is ridiculous. She took me off of social media and had made two posts in reference to our situation. Coming into the shop is always a great time. Both of the guys there are some of the most respectful men I've ever met in the tattooing industry, I have never felt uncomfortable as a woman around them. In fact I'm having Ian finish my chest/stomach piece. Ian has done multiple tattoos on me and my absolute favorite is this double Mac portrait we've almost completed. I'm talking to Adem about adding another portrait to this sleeve and I can't wait to have both of these phenomenal artists work on my body 💕 I love that both of these artists can actually draw, meaning the freehand custom piece I want for my chest and torso is actually achievable.
