I've been to A-1 Comics several times over the past 7 or so years, and have been happy with every experience. While I am not the biggest comic book nerd out there, my husband and son are. Haha This comic book store has quite a good selection, and it seems about on par with their pricing as other shops are. Neither a lot cheaper, nor more expensive. We went to Free Comic Book Day today, and it was packed! However, it wasn't as chaotic as it could have been; they kept it pretty organized. There was a food truck out in front, a guy making balloon animals, a guy dressed up as Aquaman taking pictures with people, and different comic book authors signing their items. They seem to have a lot of fun events. I think the only negative thing I can think of is the parking. Very small lot, so it's limited. Otherwise, this is an awesome spot!

I am not been to a comic book store in decades and it was very nostalgic visiting a one comics. I think this comic book store has been there for many years and I have always wanted to stop in and check it out. I think the guys name was John Mark who was super friendly and very helpful with helping me find some different graphic novels for myself and my son. The store appeared to be very well organized and the employee knew exactly where everything was. The store could definitely use a woman’s touch though, a lot of bare wall space that has limitless possibilities. I noticed they had an area of the store just for table games, I wonder if they organize tournaments different card and board games? They had exactly what we were looking for and it was a great experience.

This is literally my favorite store, not only to shop in, but to learn more about the hobby from the amazingly friendly and knowledgeable staff. Every single one of them, without exception. I know I've been coming here for years, and I admit my bias. Even with all of that accounted for, I always felt like this was my hobby shop, from my very first visit to my last. If you want to find a great community of gamers, collectors, buyers, sellers, painters, and builders, you would be hard pressed to find better than A-1 Comics. Come find a home here. I know I sure did.

Ive been going to A1 on and off for a while now with pretty average to low quality service. There's a couple solid employees who are enthusiastic, friendly and helpful but the rest seem to vary between mediocrity and downright unpleasantness. I usually go in to browse magic singles and the workers behind the counter tend to be uninteractive, unhelpful and put out to be there.

I can look past mediocre help, but this last experience is why I am giving this 2 stars and why I will never be returning. When I went in to browse magic cards like normal, I was pulling from the binders like normal and I was greeted with surprisingly friendly service the whole time, but when I was finishing up and heading to check out a disabled man and his brother walked in and asked to browse singles too, to which the employee responded verbatim "Why so you can look and not buy anything again?" The man went on to explain he wasn't able to buy anything due to financial situation currently but he wanted to look anyway, to which he was met with more scolding such as "so you just like coming in here to waste my time?" To my understanding this was a frequent occurrence, almost weekly. He still let him look at the cards because of course it's his job and requires minimal effort but that kind of behavior is unacceptable for any employee to say to any customer. I understand being frustrated, I've worked retail for years, under no circumstance do you ever treat a customer that way, I was appalled and disgusted at the behavior in front of the manager nonetheless! They also overcharge for magic singles in case you're curious. Needless to say they've lost my business and I hope this is investigated further, it was the nail in the coffin at that point because if they aren't yelling at and berating a disabled customer, they're providing mediocre service with a huff and a sigh and overall unpleasant experience.

Do yourself a favor, go ANYWHERE else to...

I often come in to shop for manga and the occasional comic since it's so close to my house. Most of the time I have to special order my items because they only keep the first couple volumes of manga in stock and if you are further into the story, they need to have it shipped in. I personally have no problem with this or their prices. I probably spend around 50 to 75 dollars a month there.

More recently though, the staff has let me down. They typically ignore you and chat with one another behind the desk. You can spend an hour looking around and aren't talked to once. There are usually 3 or 4 people working (which seems like a lot for the job they do) and when you get in line, they can take a while to even notice you, unless you interrupt them. But if you interrupt them to checkout and purchase your items, they act unfriendly and cold towards you. Its just not a welcoming environment. Even as a regular. There is a guy there (I honestly dont know his name, but he might unfortunately be the manager. He is tall, skinny, slightly bald and has a goatee), that I try to avoid because he is the worst offender of this. But there is an employee there named Clayton who has always been extremely nice and friendly towards me. I will often come in and shop when he is working. Because some of the staff can just be unpleasant.

As far as my shopping needs, Amazon and other stores can usually match or be cheaper then A1. But it's because of Clayton and the location I continue...

Personally will never be coming back here again. I went to take in some of my cards and they basically told me okay. Will call you back either at the end of today today or at noon tomorrow which I was fine with. I call them at about noon. They tell me they haven't touched my cards. I come in to pick up my cards. My boyfriend gives me my cards. I find out that the cards are in a different order than how I left them that night and I'm aware that I pulled some cards out but I remembered which card I put on top specifically because I do not trust these people with my cards. They openly lied to my boyfriend and said that they did not look inside of them when I could tell that they took two full art cards out of my stuff without giving me any money about it. I told my boyfriend to go in there and ask them about it. He told me that the dude behind the counter laughed at him. Never take your cards here. They're sheisty and scandalous and laughing at your customers is unacceptable behavior You guys might reserve the right to refuse service to anybody, but I reserve the right to never take my mythic rare cards to you or my generation one pokémon cards either I'm going to go sell them to collectors who actually care about their cards. Not a shop like you guys who takes advantage of small people just because we're individuals not...
