Don't shop here if you don't like being treated like a criminal. All of the carts are set to lock up once you leave the building because someone at this HEB decided they weren't acting enough like Walmart. Literally any other HEB would be acceptable since they don't treat you like a criminal.
My wife was forced to stand around and wait for a manager to come turn off the lock on her cart. She had just finished shopping with a mobility scooter and moved her items to a normal cart since the scooters shouldn't be taken into the parking lot. She was nearly in tears over standing on her feet by the time the cashier manager Marie showed up and blew off her complaint that the devices shouldn't even be on the carts.
Marie, I know you're reading this because your name and position were given. Next time someone complains about your store's disgusting practice, you should try a bit more empathy and a bit less callous drone. Stop acting like you work at Walmart and do the normal customer service response of "I'll go ahead and let them know we had another complaint". You don't even have to follow through, you just have to give the smallest amount of effort to make the customer feel welcome. And considering your store acts like Walmart with its anti-theft nonsense, you need to do everything you can to make the store feel more welcoming.
We will not be shopping at this HEB anymore since we no longer feel welcome. The HEBs on Louis Henna, University Blvd, and 620 all treat their customers with respect and empathy, so I recommend people shop those locations instead.
Shout-out to Diane in Gardening for doing her best to make my wife feel welcome. Your efforts weren't enough to override what Marie did, but that doesn't mean you should stop trying to put out her fires. Thank you.
UPDATE RESPONSE: No thanks, I'll just be recommending people shop somewhere else until you take the house arrest anklets off of your carts and stop treating people...
Read moreAlways used this HEB as an emergency run location although I'm less than 10mins away. Organic foods selection isn't as wide/produce doesn't seem as fresh or nicely replenished. Overall store not in the best shape in comparison to University location. Staff not as friendly or as helpful either - worth the extra 10min drive. HOWEVER as I said, I do visit for emergency items or to order cakes which we average maybe 12 a year. Easier to pick up from here. Arrived at 10am on Saturday to order a mothers day cake for the next day. As usual, no eye contact from the women who work in the bakery. One gentleman looked over and i gestured for help, and he came over to the counter. I asked to order a cake and he asked the lady to help. She rudely said (to him! Not even me - still refused to acknowledge i had been standing there! "You know we're not taking any more orders for tomorrow.." (Mothers Day). The intent was for me to overhear but to not speak directly to me - she was literally 5 steps away from me on the other side of the counter. He politely passed on her message and repeated to me that they weren't taking any more orders. I bowed out, didn't make a fuss about that terrible interaction but for the record there were not even any signs posted to suggest this was the case. Aside from the absolute rudeness of the whole situation. I immediately called the University Blvd to ask if they were still taking orders and would you believe someone from the bakery took my order OVER THE PHONE. Politely. Evidently someone who likes their job at HEB, does their job at HEB and rather than making people feel like a bother, will actually help. Now I won't even go to Palm Valley for cake, convenient or not. EMERGENCY ONLY! Take the 10 extra mins to drive...
Read moreStore trip on 12/21/2023. Lane #9, Checker: Steven F. The first and last trip to this HEB location. It seemed like a chaotic location in general with a poor process flow and cart traffic. The checker was more concerned about a small flour spill on the checker conveyor belt (from a previous customer, his words) rather than caring for how he handles produce, spilling my blackberries out of the packaging on the conveyor belt. The guy even held up the entire line for several minutes to clean the floor of the common area when he could've called cleanup and attempt to have customers flowing through the checking lane. In addition, we had two baggers, and I spent time packing my own bags while the two Partners were debating on whom from management would yell at them for gossiping. I made it clear to Steven (checker) and the baggers that they should exercise more care handling customer produce, especially fruit, that I carefully select when I shop. Sure, the fruit could be replaced with one of them going to grab a random pack of blackberries that could have defects or mold, but the root cause is still poor handling of products after scanning. It's quite possible that the flour spill occurred due to checker's poor handling of goods. None of these kids treat the food as if it were their own---the ownership of actions is truly lacking here. I provided this feedback to all 3 Partners hoping it would help in the future for other customers but I will not be around to see it to fruition. The Louis Henna location in Round Rock is far better and they actually have an organized process flow. Take it for what it's...
