I’ve been working out at a traditional gym for years, and my workouts had gotten stale, so I wanted to try CrossFit. I was a bit nervous and hesitated to do it for a long time but I’m happy to have started at new species CrossFit. I think this is the perfect place to start the owners/coaches are young, friendly, and eager to help and get people started. Although I had no idea what I was doing, they got me up to speed and into workouts right away. They also got my girlfriend who hates working out to start coming to CrossFit and now she is hooked and gets angry if we miss it.
As I said, I worked out a lot in the past, but these workouts have improved my cardiovascular endurance, immensely in the short time since I’ve joined. I’m getting consistently incredible workouts, and never leave the gym without being drenched in sweat and with a smile on my face.
In addition to regular CrossFit classes, they also offer kids classes, gymnastics, and yoga. And other alternatives like something called ruck, which is like an outdoor exercise regimen. They have a lot of offerings for classes like 4 classes in the morning one at noon then like 5 at night so there is availability to go before after or even during work and if the classes don’t align with your schedule you’re able to go do the workout of the day on your own time.
The owners and coaches really make this an incredible experience and the diverse age range and levels of fitness in participants makes sure everyone will fit in no matter their prior experience. If you’re hesitant I highly recommend dropping in for a class and...
Read moreHigh energy atmosphere with good music, excellent coaching, motivation, and instruction. Lots of fun here and lots of people to meet. Everyone brings something from their own background. It all comes together and everyone picks up a new adventure. I picked up running, triathlons, and rucking(I never ran before I joined crossfit). Some friends do marathons, some Tough Mudder, some play football, etc.
The place has excellent equipment that is always in proper working condition. Ropes, sleds, racks, Olympic bars for men and women as well as practice bars, tons of bumper plates, steel plates, benches, safety spotter arms, dip belts, rowing machines, CHALK etc...
It's kept clean. The bathroom is very clean and professional +1 can of Febreeze. Some place to store you coat, shoes, and keys etc. when you arrive.
As long as I have been here the gym has been growing. Improved coaching, added equipment, seminars, special classes, yoga, open gym. Almost all of the additions have been free of charge.
If you haven't tried crossfit, don't wait. Very encouraging environment where you get the help and attention you need to continue to perform at YOUR highest. I look forward to...
Read moreWhat Josh and Marcella have built at CrossFit New Species is nothing short of exceptional. The value here is truly unmatched. Having visited over a dozen boxes in different states, I can confidently say this is the biggest gym I’ve been to, with the best hours, programming, and culture.
I joined during a tough time in my life, and this gym became the perfect place to blow off steam. The space is massive, with enough equipment and room to easily run a class of 25-30 people, while still leaving space for others to do their own thing. Normandy Park and its trails across the street add an extra element for outdoor training, especially in the summer.
The best part? The people here are incredibly friendly. Quick to offer a fist bump in passing between class times or a word of encouragement while fighting for those last reps of a chipper... I love the diversity of skill level, age, gender, and race that thrives here.
Oh, and did I mention they offer Strongman, GoRuck, Olympic Lifting, and...
