Oh, where to begin with this one? We'll start in the parking lot, a place that looks like someone with frequent seizures had hand in its design. I don't know what they were thinking with that mess. It's like they want to dissuade customers.
Next are the tickets, specifically the prices. They're high, and they apply to a 2 year old. I got to pay full price for my 2 year old. Want to know what she did in the theatre? You probably guessed it, she slept. Full price for that.
You walk in, and you see food. Prices are normal theatre prices, and that's OK. So take out a loan if you are prone to getting the munchies. However, they only make a fraction of the things on the menu. Imagine my joy seeing pizza on the menu, and my sadness being told they don't make those there. And they are also sticklers when it comes to what you can bring in there. While I was big and pregnant and pretty sick, I dared to bring some ginger tea in to sip while I watched a movie. They came up to my seat, took my tea, and offered me some tap water. It could only come from the fountain because their water machine gives things a funny taste. So much fun spending time in the bathroom vomiting since I couldn't have my herbal tea while pregnant with hyperemesis gravidarum. So much fun.
Which brings us to the bathrooms. Some type of rodent died in one of their walls. Last time I went, I got to smell dead rat when I went to the bathroom.
Movie experience itself...the janitor likes to come into the screening room and turn the lights on too soon after the show so if you are looking to see any afterthoughts, too bad. The temperature is always too cold. I bring blankets in the summer. And don't even attempt to see something in 3-D here. You will get overly dark and blurry. Every. Single. Time.
Half the time the arcade is down for business.
Also, the theatre retains the right to search your belongings. If you don't want them thumbing through your purse, pockets, diaper bags, oxygen tank bag, monitor bag, etc upon request; you will be asked to leave...
Ā Ā Ā Read morePlease do not be deceived by the average rating of this theater. I would not consider it a 4/5 stars personally. It is, at its best, an average viewing experience. In my experience, the staff is very friendly and are not to blame for any inadequacies, outside of a sometimes unclean theater or bathroom (though not the worst I have experienced).
Multiple theaters here have bad screens and / or projectors (stains on the screen, out of focus or dim projector, etc) and they don't turn the theater lights all the way off during viewing, meaning it can be difficult to see what is going on, especially during really dark scenes. For example, the first scene of Black Panther, I literally had no idea what was going because he's in a dark suit during the night, the screen might as well have been turned off.
In short, if you have kids or you're going with some friends to watch a movie you don't particularly care about or aren't very interested in, then this theater is okay, especially if you can save a buck and go on $5 movie night, but if you are invested in the movie or want a better overall viewing experience, spend the extra gas money to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThis theater has gone downhill since it's re-opened after COVID.
It seems like every time we've gone here recently there's been one thing or another that has made the experience sour.
TWICE we purchased a 3D movie only to see that whatever it takes to be 3D wasn't working. the first time, they re-started the movie. We did get a refund for both showings.
On the most recent visit, today, the movie was blurry and red-blue could be seen whenever wording was displayed. TWICE i went to the front to ask if this could be remedied. TWICE I was told that it could. It never was though. Also I purchased a medium drink and it was low on the syrup. I went back and mentioned this. I got another drink and it was the same, but after so many complaints I just drank the very expensive sugar water. There doesn't seem to be anyone of authority present at this theater.
The next time we feel like going to the movies, perhaps we will either think hard about it and decide not to, or make the drive to W. Monroe and go to...
