I’m giving this store two stars because we were able to find what we were looking for, but truthfully I’ll never be back and would advise anyone of color to be mindful. As soon as we walked into the door they made an announcement regarding loss prevention. I wasn’t sure, but had a feeling this was for my husband, sons and me. When we made it to the counter, my suspicions were confirmed. Two employees came from the back. One looked at my purse and said, “you guys shop fast!” Mind you, we were there because we’d realized late the night before that we’d forgotten socks and shoes for the guys and were running late to a funeral, so, yes, we were shopping with intention because we knew exactly what we were there to get. To be a black person who knows what they want at this store is to automatically be labeled a thief. And they can’t say it was because we’d “shopped fast,” because they ran the loss prevention announcement as soon as we’d walked in the store. We were stereotyped and judged.
