If you are considering staying at the Frio River, I would definitely not stay at River Rock Cabins. We were supposed to stay there from July 6-8, but due to the flooding, we called the day before to cancel. I did not want to take any chances after what happened in Kerville. Not only that, but I wound up in the hospital anyways. I booked our trip knowing they didnt offer refunds which is why I purchased travel insureance that was recommeded when booking our stay. River Rock Cabinâs Cancelation policy does not offer refunds if you have to cancel reservations within 30 days. It doesnât matter if there is flooding, you are sick or have to go to the hospital which is what happened to me. I am in process of filing a claim with the insurance who wants proofs that I canceled our reservations. I called River Rock Cabins and left several messages before I got a call back. Once they called, the man I spoke with told me that they can not offer proof because he didnât cancel our reservations since they donât offer refunds. I told the guy, âthatâs why I purchased the travel insurance and I specifically told you that we were not coming because of the flooding. Not to mention that I wound up in the ER anyways.â He didnât seem to care. He said, âmaâam we are trying to run a business.â So they are in the business of ripping widows (my mom) and single mothers off who work their tales off to even be able to take her child somewhere. He then said, I will see what I can do. That was at least 3-4 days ago. I have yet to receive a call or email. Nothing!!!!!!! That was $653.30 that we may not get back becuase they are not willing to send a letter proving that I called...
Read moreI came across River Rock Cabins as I was planning a weekend trip to Garner State Park. It was a small property with only 5 cabins on the property. From start to finish the booking and communication process was simple. The cabins are nicely spaced out without feeling that youâre intruding on the next cabin. The property has a gorgeous view of Old Baldy in Garner State Park. If you make it to the top, you can see the property from there as well. Seeing it at sunrise was even better. Our cabin was roomy enough for 6 people, so being only 3 people made it enjoyable. The drive to Garner was less than 10 minutes from the property. You get to drive right over Magers crossing. That is a sight to enjoy as well. After doing the trails, we enjoyed the onsite pool they have at River Rock Cabins. We cooled off and enjoyed the rest of the evening in the cabin. This was a great experience...
Read moreI went expecting much more due to the Google Reviews, but I will give a 3-star rating; why? Concept and Location: 5-star. The cabin has a lovely style, and it is 1min from the river. However, we had some problems during our stay. First, the cleanliness of the cabin was not that great, and there was dust everywhere on the kitchen shelves. It looks like the shelves were never cleaned. Second: TV/WiFi, none of them working. Of course, we went there to relax, but having an Internet connection at the end of the day is good for planning for the next day and reading some news. Third: we killed a Scorpion on the second floor of the cabin, the floor where we were sleeping. There are some gaps in the walls that allow scorpions to come in, and there is some garbage in the backyard, which may help them to grow. I wish I could give a 5-stars, but...
