Frio River Escape — Local services in Sabinal

My family and I recently stayed at Bent River #1 and we absolutely loved it! We were looking for a house with 4 bedrooms with river access and a pool, and Bent River checked all the boxes and then some! The pool is just steps from the house, which is super convenient. The outdoor patio area is really great too. It’s a nice, covered area with plenty of seating and a TV! That was an awesome bonus we weren’t expecting! The bedrooms were comfortable. Nothing fancy, but after a long day in the sun all you really need is a comfortable place to lay your head, right? There are two nice size bathrooms, a large living room and a nice size kitchen with the most amazing island! It is the perfect spot for playing board games with the family. The owners are great too. I emailed Amy several times before our arrival to ask questions and check on river conditions, and she was always very helpful. And when we arrived at the house we couldn’t find a blender, so I called the office and they brought one over to us in no time! One thing to note about this property is that there are steep stairs down to the river, so if you have littles or older people in your party (or if you’re out of shape like me!) it may be hard to navigate. One of the most pleasant vacation spots I’ve visited. We were there for the April 8 solar eclipse. The owners pulled out all the stops to make guests comfortable and welcome. I could tell this was the type of hospitality that would be extended to anyone, eclipse or no eclipse.

The cabins are very comfortable, with a rustic down-home feel. We really weren’t there to stay inside, but while we were inside, we had everything we needed.

The highlights for us included a beautiful, well maintained pool that was just the right temperature for hot Texas weather. And, not to be missed—the “river walk” area. A gorgeous grassy area under huge shade trees along the Frio River. Lots of picnic tables or you can spread some towels and go splash in the shallow River. It’s fun to watch cars drive across the river—yep, the road actually runs through the river at a shallow crossing and there’s no bridge. Check the water depth, take a deep breath, and drive on across.

Highly recommended if you’re looking for a place to get away and relax. I sometimes write for magazines and books; I can see myself and my laptop parked on a picnic table by the river. Can’t think of a better place to relax and let my...

Google would not let me add a new review this year, so I will add to this one! Clint and Amy continue to amaze my family with all of the improvements each year we coe visit. We will never book anywhere else along the Frio! Even when floating is not condusive to river flow, there is always water at Magers, so it is a prime location, and it you need to run into Leakey or Concan for restaurants, the drive is a piece of cake! We will forever be a loyal Frio River Escape family, even as our family grows to more than one cabin!! Thank you again, Clint and Amy for making our ONE vacation each year so special!

My family has stayed at River's Edge for the past 11 years and every year when we arrive we are always please to see what improvements are added. Oasis has come such a long way from where it started when it was part of River Rim. It has always been a great place to stay, and everyone is always so welcoming, helpful, and friendly.
