This is hands down the best campground I have ever stayed at! It has the feel of your favorite camp you went to as a kid! We stayed at a campsite with water, electricity, free wifi (that works great) and a shelter we used as an indoor kitchen. The campsite was covered by the biggest most beautiful oak trees you’ve ever seen! You could see the Milky Way and the stars through the tree tops at night! It made such a gorgeous canopy above our campfire and tents! The site was extremely spacious and affordable and they let us put up as many tents as we wanted with no extra cost. Extra people we had with us had a one time charge of $20 per person and we didn’t have to pay for them daily which made it even more affordable. Most of the campsites are large and not on top on each other which is great and we really felt the privacy we wanted. The river was the best part! Even after years of drought in the area the river was still deep there at the campground for swimming and for the use of the rope swings! And they have an amazing large rock beach to use if you want to stay in the shallow area or just put your canopy up and sit and relax. The river is cold (hence the name “Frio”) but after taking a long swim we could not feel the Texas heat anymore and we were cooled to the core the rest of the day! They have trails going to other parts of the river and there is easy access to Garner State Park. We got day passes and we’re able to cross the river and go take hikes throughout the park. Zuber’s is really the perfect campground if you want to enjoy Garner without the crowds! And the best part of the whole stay we’re the owners! The Zuber’s are an amazing duo that are so accommodating and friendly! We felt like we had come home to family while we were there!!! If I could give it more stars I would!!! We will be staying here from now on when we want to visit the Frio Canyon area! My kids, my husband and I consider our 12 day camping excursion at Zuber’s this year to be our best vacation yet!!! We are so glad we found y’all and we will be back soon! Sincerely,...

My family and I had the pleasure of staying at Zubers Camp the weekend before Thanksgiving, and it turned out to be an exceptional retreat. Nestled in a tranquil environment, it was the perfect setting for relaxation and peace of mind. The surrounding scenery captivated us from the start, with the breathtaking view of the Frio river and the stunning Mount Baldy, beautifully framed by the vibrant colors of fall trees. One of the highlights of our stay was how the camp encouraged outdoor activities, which was especially beneficial for our kids. They embraced the joy of playing outside, a refreshing change from their usual indoor activities. The camp's commitment to offering a family-friendly environment was evident and much appreciated. Our evenings were magical, highlighted by a cozy bonfire where we gathered for dinner under the stars. These moments created unforgettable memories for our family, reinforcing the camp's charm.Although we encountered a small scorpion, which was a bit scary, it didn't diminish the overall wonderful experience. It served as a gentle reminder of the camp's natural setting, and I know they bug-bomb the cabins. Their cabins are clean and well-maintained. So, 5 stars it is! 🥰
In conclusion, Zubers Camp is a hidden gem for families seeking a blend of adventure, tranquility, and natural beauty. Our experience was so enriching that we are already planning our next visit. We wholeheartedly recommend Zubers Camp to anyone looking for a serene escape from the hustle and bustle...
Read moreLoved the experience. Cabin was very clean and close to the river. You have to bring everything you need like sheets, towels, hand soap, dish soap, trash bags etc but I liked that because I knew where my sheets have been. It’s not a huge cabin by any means but it serves its purpose. A/C works great, hot showers felt amazing and there was zero noise at night. The river was very shallow and didn’t flow anywhere but it was a great spot to relax in a tube or put a chair in the water. There are also rentals for kayaks or tubes. You can also go float the river near by.
If you need to buy anything I would drive the 30 minutes to Walmart in Uvalde. There’s only a few stores close to the cabin and they are overpriced. For example: a bag of ice is $7 but it’s $2 at Walmart or a case of water is $20 but at Walmart it is $5.
WiFi is $5 a day for an unlimited amount of devices. HOWEVER, it only works 10% of the time. That wasn’t a big deal to us because we weren’t there for their WiFi.
Also, the ceiling fans have about 3 inches of dust caked on to them. We don’t have a dust allergy problem so it wasn’t a big deal to us. It just didn’t look nice when the fan was turned off.
Besides the WiFi and dusty fan, everything was perfect. We highly recommend staying in the cabins and we will definitely...
