Full disclosure: I have not camped here. I post this solely as a planning aid for owners of larger RVs. We found this campground on the web, and thought their website made it look intriguing - as all of them try to do. However, given the 43' size of our motorhome, I wanted to see specific things for myself before driving it there, such as the size and length of the RV spaces and how close together they are, etc. Our RV is also tall, and low trees are an issue - they'll scratch paint and damage rooftop components like air conditioners. We found lots of low trees over TX Hwy 16 and FM 470 that had not been trimmed, and would have presented low clearance problems for our RV. Knowing there were other routes to the park, we continued there. Once there, we found that the entrance road leading into the park had the lowest oaks we'd seen, and definitely would have damaged the coach. Conclusion: If we can't safely get in and out of a campground, it doesn't much matter how nice it might be inside. I just can't take the risk of doing expensive damage to the motorhome. Maybe this information will be helpful to other RV owners contemplating this campground as a destination.
12Jun18 Edit: I note that the park owner has chosen to call me a liar, which is fine; this is America. I won't call him one - he might very well have hosted the Prevosts he claims to have stayed there, but they must also have had some kind of private entrance devoid of low-hanging branches I saw everywhere I looked.
All I can say is, if any high-profile RV owner wants to tempt fate and give this place a try, "ya'll be careful, ya hear?" You've...
Read moreI called in January about a spot for a week in July, since I had heard that rv campgrounds booked up early. I saw the good reviews for Parkview and they told me they only had spot number 68 available and I would have to take it for 8 nights. I paid the 50% deposit and had to pay the remainder when we arrived at the office for check-in on Saturday. We pulled to our spot and you can see the view from my camper and the small size of the lot. We called the office and asked if we could move somewhere else with a better view, since there were several empty sites around us. We were told they were full, but we could check back in a couple of days to see if they had a cancellation. As I unhooked my camper, a guy drove up on a golf cart and watched me from several spaces away. We called a couple of other rv parks in the area and they said they had spaces available. We went to the office at Parkview and told them we were unhappy with our spot and if they didn't have anything else, we were checking out. They called the owner and we told him we didn't want to look at the piles at the back of the maintenance barns for 8 days. He said he didn't know what we were referring to. He said that it was fine if we checked out, but there was no way he was giving a refund because everything stayed booked up for a year. We told him that he should be able to rent the spot out to someone else then, but then he said he probably wouldn't be able to rent it out for more than a day or two. We left and went to...
Read moreSo we had mixed feelings about this place. First trip out here and first the positives.
However there are some major negatives which leave us conflicted if we shall return.
as others have mentioned the map totally misrepresents the spacing of the sites. I mean these sites are totally crammed on top of each other. We had two other rvs so close to us we could hardly move.
sites are full hookups but nothing else to write home about. Almost no money put into these sites they are a dirty muddy mess. Our had a nice view of a storage lot and not much else. I felt like we were camping where we store our rv.
Overall again we have really mixed feelings as price is decent but it’s basically a not great campground in a really good location. I wish they’d plow some of the $$ into making this a lot nice campground and maybe charge a little more and have fewer sites so they could be...
