I don't know why most of you that have put reviews on Google. For this wonderful culinary school that it took me two years in a half a year to get through for my culinary studies of commercial foods and culinary arts. I will say this and I am being nice about it, if you do not like First Coast Technical College in St Augustine Florida, You can go somewhere else to get your education or earn your trade. All your Chef instructors and instructors in any other department at First Coast Technical College don't have to show up for you to be educated in that trade or field, but they do. Sit back and enjoy the ride because you're 2 1/2 to 4 year degree his moments away from you starting on this challenge And for somebody to say don't waste your time. I didn't waste my time I got into an accident my first year by being hit by a car crossing State Road 16 and I kept going and going and going in my family was there for my moral support and my emotional support. You all think that everything is a joke. The Joke is on You Even though they are struggling with enrollment in The Culinary department is busting itch hump to stay in business they are still doing a good job in teaching the students what they need to know to get by in the real world. I came to class ready to go in my full uniform Chef coat buttoned up to the top Etc. And usually I try to get to class as early as I could and to get the cafeteria and Banquet Center set up for events in which I attended all of them. I really liked Miss Joe Jean Ponce and Miss Christine AKA Dr cothran along with Lee Adams and Mr Baker I think it was. My first year I just wanted to throw my hands up and just say the heck with it, but I stayed with it. Before you talk about any programs of study at First Coast Technical College in St Augustine I want you to think about one thing. Try going to all these other trade schools and see how much money you're going to put out for your classes and please let that sink in. The only thing you have to do is sit back and learn and open up your mind and let all that you learned in...
Read moreCan't get an answer on the phone from anyone. They have zero organization or communication skills. This all has to do with the administration. The instructors here are great but its not worth the headache of having to deal with the staff. I have attended fire1, 2, and EMT here. This past weekend there was an EVOC course that I needed to take in order to get hired. I was told that the class was full and there were no available spots after finally getting an answer after a week of calling. I knew 2 of the 4 guys that attended this course. The instructor said the school actually lost money because they have a limit of 12 people in this class and this time they only had 4 sign up. So if they can have 12 why would the receptionist say that the class was full? It's hard enough to get an answer or reply to your questions and then when you finally get someone on the other end of the line they are to lazy to do the job they are paid for so they just say the course...
Read moreFinancial Aide Dept has NO IDEA what they are doing. There are TWO people who work in the dept for the entirety of the school (that's both campuses, St Aug and Palatka). If you have a Pell grant and are selected for further verification on your taxes, you must make an appt (usually a month out like I had to) to see a woman, Sally DeVane, who may or may not keep that appt with you. You will be treated as inferior and dismissed frequently. All of this terrible attitude stems from the fact that this school was taken over by the St Johns County School District because of embezzlement practices that ran rampant. The SJCSD fired a bunch of people in the office areas, thus breaking up the tight-knit money-hungry clique that ran the school. Those that are left are still angry about it, and the students and teachers suffer. In short, DO NOT ATTEND, DON'T EVEN REGISTER. Your talents and mind are better put to...
