Hagan Ace/Anastasia LLC — Local services in Saint Augustine

I love this Ace. The people are very nice and helpful, and I can get almost all the hardware supplies I need here. Parking is a bit restricted at the moment due to construction and reconstruction of the greenhouse. What little I might not find in-store can often be ordered or simply brought in from another store.

Feb. 2025 - Still love this store. They carry almost everything I need, and the staff is excellent. I've shopped here so long that I know many associates by name. Everyone is professional and knowledgeable, and they've helped me brainstorm fixes for many projects.

Update April 2022 - The construction was over ages ago and there's more parking now than before. This isn't a huge store, but it carries all the essentials I need and far more. Very good selection of products for it's size. The nursery area is large and well-stocked. The staff here is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. If I don't have to go to a larger store such as Lowe's I don't. I'm happier shopping at the Ace.

Update Oct 2022 - I always get the help I need here and good recommendations. The staff was beginning to set the shelving for holiday decorations, lighting, etc. Always a fun time!

Update Dec 2022 - Three team members went above and beyond to get something unstuck for me. I love doing business here due to the team, the variety of products, and the personal help. And the prices are good. Today was an outstanding example of the personal help part of why I love this store!

Update April 2023 - Oh, the plants!!! For the last two days I've stocked up on outdoor plants, soil amendments, etc. Between fall hurricanes and the Dec-Jan freezes, I lost almost all of my plants, and Ace has what I need at excellent prices. The staff is always helpful and fun to visit with to get the advice and tips I need. Having good coupons helps, too! I love this store and these people!

Update June 2023 - Great experience again. Placed an order that will be in Friday. I love shopping here.

Aug. 2023 - Some new staff members and everyone continues to be very helpful. My Ace rocks!

April 2024 - The staff at my store are terrific. And there are always new gadgets and tons of plants. The big- big box stores have their place, but I far prefer to shop at Ace where they help me troubleshoot and make excellent suggestions.

The store and staff are as terrific as always. My questions are cheerfully answered and every is friendly as well as professional. Love this store!!

September 2024 - Another home run at this store! They had the product I really needed, and had other things I wanted on sale! I was greeted by at least 4 employees whose names I know because they've helped me in the past. The staff is friendly and helpful, but they also have terrific suggestions when I'm "engineering" something. I love this store and this staff!

Dec. 2024- Another excellent shopping trip. I visited with a few of associates I know, and got advice on replacing my vincas. The associates are truly interested in helping customers and I appreciate the personal touch as well as their professionalism.

May 2025 - I made a quick trip today, said hello to the associates I know and got the scoop on the tiny black beetles that have suddenly appeared. I love shopping here!

I woke up with some food poisoning this morning - but I have a large project that needed to be worked on today. I realized I needed more paint brushes & my partner took my truck to work. So, I borrowed a neighbor’s car & headed to ACE. On the way there, I was feeling unwell again due to the poisoning. I was concerned I was going to be sick. I got to ACE at 8:50 am on a Sunday morning (August 10th), realizing they don’t open until 9. I told myself I could make it, and started breathing through it. At 8:57 I saw an employee go through a gate on the side and walk through the front door. I thought - it’s almost 9? It will take me a few minutes to determine everything I need - the timing should be great. I approach the gate and an employee leaning on her red car smoking a cigarette told me that I could not go in, twice. I was visibly upset - trying not to blow chunks or lay down. At 9am I went through the side gate and into the store. The lady at the register greeted me, I said hello and went to look for what I needed. She realized the front gate was locked and her and another older man that worked there approached me in an aisle & asked me how I got in. I told them it was 9am and I walked in through the side gate. The man - with a very nasty attitude told me that I need to wait to be let in next time. It was so rude and surprising that all I could immediately think of was to tell him “I won’t be back” - to which he replied “good.”

I went to the trouble of typing the whole story because I think it highlights how we never know what anyone is going through, and asking a couple of questions can lead to understanding.

Each employee, other than the woman at the register, was rude.

I am assuming none of them own the business - as I have spent a lot of money there in the last week and the owner of the business would be excited to see people ready to come in and spend their money.

Yes, I went through a side gate and into the front door at 9am before the main gate was opened. There were no signs saying “employees only” or “do not use this gate”.

I understand these employees may not be thrilled about being at work on a Sunday morning, but I don’t think the aggression was necessary. I would have apologized and explained that I was feeling very ill and just needed a couple of things quick - but I wasn’t given an opportunity before...

This isn't my first rodeo. I've seen my favorite restaurants, dress shops, shoe shop, grocery store, bank, hair dresser, EVERYBODY leave and get replaced by someone that isn't quite as good as the new guy. But HAGAN Ace hardware? Its not just because you can depend on them to BE HERE (because they Are) its because of their friendly and thorough knowledge of anything you need for your home or business. Anybody thats a "do it yourselfer" knows the value of leaving what you're doing to get a part, a screw or nail, a tool the right size, a fitting with an unusual adapter, a light bulb, a birthday present for a spouse? You know i can't name everything but any employee can come up with the name of the "whatchamacallit" you asked for , then politely tell you what aisle its in or most the time , lead you right to it personally. Can't figure out how to get from A to B on your project? If they can't give you a good general idea they can probably tell you someone that can. I love HAGAN Ace hardware. I dont know what I would do without them. Fortunately, I don't have that worry. They are my fort...
