see update that follows initial review (experienced the SAME issue again today)* I have hesitated to share this review, as I know many restaurants are struggling right now with finding help, etc.... But, I think in this instance the error made could have caused someone a serious health issue. 2 weeks ago I ordered a green smoothie and added protein (pea protein). Got in car to drive away and took a sip. I could clearly taste and smell peanut butter. I stopped and looked at label on side of cup (they never offer a receipt and normally I don't care)- it said peanut butter on the label. I immediately went back inside and pointed that out. Instead of saying she was sorry or taking responsibility, the young girl at counter (who was not even the one who took my order!) Immediately says "you said peanut butter." I could not believe she was going to argue with me (especially since she never took my order!). The other girl came up and I told her; she repeated the same thing. I said no, I asked for pea protein, not peanut butter! She stepped over to make a new one, and the manager got involved and made it. He handed it to me and said sorry about that. I said this kind of error is a big deal, as there are people/kids who have life threatening reactions to peanuts. None of the 3 of them seemed concerned. I said, and I would think a green smoothie plus PNB might be unusual enough to clarify. He still wanted to argue with me saying "not really." At any rate, they remade the smoothie, were not terribly concerned nor very apologetic, never offered a refund, and even essentially argued with me (the 2 girls insisting that's what I ordered). I don't think I would trust what they make for me again. And I think I received poor customer service/response. It's a shame, because not all locations are like this. If you have any food allergies, I would especially be cautious here- and I would ask for a receipt (they never offer and never hand you one)- and triple check order.
UPDATE 7/19/24: AND IT HAPPENED,...
Read moreI love tropical smoothie Cafe and have been a regular customer for many years now. And as much as I could give it 5 stars, this issue has happened with almost all of my orders and I need to address it now. Everytime I order a Chipotle chicken Flatbread I always ask for no tomatoes. I do this now because I as an adult would prefer to not have tomatoes but when I was a child, I had a nightshade allergy that made it difficult to eat tomatoes, potatoes, eggplants as well as peppers. Luckily as a child I outgrew this allergy as it wasn't as severe as it could have been, but some of the things I used to be allergic to are still not on my favorite foods list. Every single time I check the box on doordash to ask for no tomatoes, my order always comes with tomatoes. Every. single. time. You guys have got to pay attention to your online orders, I personally don't care, I can take tomatoes off, but someone with a SEVERE nightshade allergy could come along and try to order and they might get the same issue and then, oops there's a lawsuit :/ I'm posting this review in severe hopes that this changes for the customers as well as your sake, because in every other way y'all are my favorite place to eat. I just don't want to see yall make that mistake to the wrong person. Please please p l e a se pay attention to...
Read moreOrdered through DoorDash today and I’m not usually one to complain but here I am. DoorDash guy by the way - Chris 5 stars, he was awesome! Smoothie was good as usual and as expected. I ordered there hummus and veggie wrap though as a treat and was surprised by how petite of a sandwich it is. The entire wrap with both halves was smaller than a basic 16.9 oz water bottle - kind of strange for $8. This is the norm considering i have gotten wrap for the last several years. This size would be more appropriate for my 6 year old nephew! The wrap was folder over itself entirely - more like a taquito or just a wrap wrapped within itself. The sample size of the wrap was just the tip of the iceberg bc low and behold not only the star ingredient, HUMMUS* was missing but so was the fan fave AVOCADO*, what was left was some ranch dressing, plenty of lettuce, some black beans, rice and maybe a slice of pickled onion. Yikes!
So to recap, I ordered and paid for a hummus veggie wrap. I was given a not so free sample sized tea sandwich but without the main ingredient. I will applaud the softness of the wrap itself - that was pleasant, sadly not enough to sustain my hunger pangs an hour later.
Go for the smoothies here but...
