Lukes upholstery quoted me a price of $45.00 per yard for his work, but he recently charged me about two times his quoted price, even factoring in the nail heads on the chairs. I took him two identical club chairs that required 5 yards each, a job that should have cost $450.00 plus the cost of adding nail heads across the bottom, which should have brought the bill to no more than $600.00 tops; instead, his bill came to $1,120.00. His ludicrous rationale for grossly overcharging me was that he wanted to make as much money on his upholstery work as he makes in his work as an electrician. I trusted him to keep his word, but he took advantage of my trust. In addition, he charged me sales tax on his labor, which at this time is not legal in the state of Utah. I supplied all of the fabric and materials, so this job was for labor only. A friend of mine took his Barcalounger recliner to Lukes for repairs. They charged him for the repairs, but when he got it home, none of the repairs had been made. When I questioned the upholsterer about it, he made the excuse that lots of the bolts were "just so loose"! That is exactly what we wanted to be repaired. His excuse was ridiculous. If I could leave a negative 5...
Ā Ā Ā Read morewhat a terrific experience! I am delighted with how my recliner turned out. Mark Luke is professional, detail oriented, fast and fair priced. He had this piece done in 1 week which is unbelievable . Most places could not even start for 2-3 wks some as long as 10-12 weeks before even starting! Some did not even want to do it at all. He knows upholstery , listens to what you want and cares about the finished product. This is a rare find anymore. Someone honest, efficient, and his price is fair. He had to do some extra work to reinforce the frame that would make the chair sturdier and wanted to make sure the work was done right. Some reviews felt his price was high. These people obviously never had anything upholstered before. This is hard work I feel he is very fair with his prices and I have had many pieces done in the past elsewhere. You won't be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe had four cushions from our Airstream trailer that needed to be reupholstered - again. We'd had them redone by another shop in St. George a few years ago but were never pleased with the work. We took them to Mark at Luke's Upholstery who had the exact material we wanted, his price was lower than the other shop and he had them finished exactly when we needed them. The work was better than we had hoped, we were extremely impressed with the quality and think they look better now than the original cushions when we bought the trailer. Mark was a pleasure to work with and we highly...
