I understand how marketing works. I work with marketing companies every day. But what Summit has done to their club has rendered a membership there completely worthless. With so many promotions working to bring people to the gym they've forgotten that those people would like to actually DO something while at the gym.
With only a single set of weights, along with some scattered extra weights here and there, one literally has to wait in a line in order to use the equipment. Now, anyone who understands exercising techniques at all will know that having 5 minute forced rest (waiting for equipment) between sets is not going to benefit the person exercising at all. It's impossible to do a superset of anything because the moment you try someone else is using the weight you'd need.
Another main reason why I purchased a pass to Summit was the fact that they have a regulation length pool. I really like to have swimming be a part of my workout routine. I'm not a competitor by any means, but I'm a good swimmer and I just plain like it! So when I show up to swim and MOST of the lanes are 'occupied' by a swim team leaving two lanes for me and everyone else who is trying to swim to share it gets pretty packed. I'm paying for a membership. I want to use the pool. I don't see why that's too much to ask.
What the salesmen SHOULD tell you is this: "Yes we have a pool, you'll pay for it in your membership dues, but....you will hardly get to use it because we give it to the swim team." Granted, I COULD just show up at random times during the day and I'm sure the pool MIGHT be open....but (this may blow your mind) I have a job during the day that I have to go to. And my ability to work around the swim team's schedule is fairly limited.
The front desk is rarely any help with any issues. They have schedules for the tennis and pickle-ball courts where you can sign up for a specific time slot to play. Whenever I've done this, there were already people in the court who also said they had also signed up. But when we checked with the front desk there weren't any names on the chart. So...someone isn't very thorough with their job. We ended up leaving to go play tennis at the college. It seemed a better idea than trying to fight the people on the court at the club.
Honestly, the best part about Summit is the fact that they have a fully functioning and accurate scale. And! There's rarely a line to use the scale, which is great.
Summit is one of the most expensive athletic clubs in the entire State, much less City of Saint George. It's extremely disappointing spend good money on a membership that doesn't actually fulfill all the benefits that I pay for. Maybe, just maybe if they were to coordinate a schedule that actually allowed its members to use the pool or if they had enough weights to accommodate everyone they're giving memberships to, it would be a good place to go. But they don't.
It really feels like they're in it for the money and not the health of the community. And frankly, that's not a vibe I will ever support. I'm sorry guys, but Summit is an incredible disappointment in...

Update: I just received an email that they will continue to bill my card monthly for their outrageous cancellation fees until it is paid off, even though I have a signed cancellation form. And still no call back from anybody as I requested. For me, it’s not about the money so much as knowing that I have no voice in this. They do not care about me as a client, just their bottom line. I’m just a number. All they had to do was listen to my concerns and I would’ve happily paid everything, because that is how I am. Unfortunately this gentleman took my complaints personal and began to just threaten collections instead. What a waste of my time, energy and money. I’ll never go back and I’m going to guess many others have or will feel the same way.
Unfortunately my husband and I signed a 3 year contract for this gym back in 2020 and although we didn’t enjoy going there and haven’t gone for the last two years, we fulfilled the contract and they told us we could cancel in November of this year. The atmosphere is dark and dreary and no machines are available during our times there or there’s a line of people just waiting and staring at you to get off “their” machine. Multiple machines need repaired as well. My husband and I have even tried a different location which was further from our home and it just didn’t work for us. So last Saturday, we went in and signed to cancel, no problems. Signed and done. ✔️ This would be the time to collect any fees owed, especially if there’s a cancellation fee. Only today (4 days later) they are trying to collect more money that was never mentioned at the time of cancellation nor is it stated on the cancellation form. He said my hands are tied so I asked to speak to his supervisor because I wanted to express my dissatisfaction with their delay on collecting said fee and the overall unsatisfactory experience I’ve had with them. It’s not the money-it’s that I have had sub par customer service and it still continues. Nowhere on the cancellation form does it mention any fees. They said it’s in my original contract, but then I should’ve been charged at cancellation. I really didn’t have a problem until I requested to speak to somebody else that “didn’t have their hands tied” and might listen to my valid complaints and he alluded that I would just be sent to collections rather than getting a call back. And still I have wronged them?!?
So, again, I say choose carefully! Do your research! There are so many other gyms to go to in our beautiful city! Make sure you are choosing...
Read morePAIN? PAIN? PAIN? … WELL NOT ANYMORE. This can be you, too, if you have any pain that you’re dealing with. I have been going to the Healthy Posture Class taught by my hero, LORRI SOQUI, for almost 2 years now. I am a 55-year-old woman who never really stepped foot in the gym in my whole life, BUT PLEASE HEAR ME ON THIS NOTE. I have a changed body because of this class. It is a mixture of Pilates, physical therapy, Yoga, tons and tons of amazing education, awesome information, inspiring stories and unbelievable results. It’s an absolute life-changing education experience if you choose to take it. It’s all presented by a woman who spent a lifetime studying every aspect of health wholeness and how to live a pain free life filled with love, gratitude, and joy. Lorri is more than an instructor, more than a teacher, and more than a want-to-be standup comedian, which, by the way, is part of the “fun” in the pain of the class. She truly has a genuine heart of compassion for those who are in her class. She desires to see each and every one of us out of pain and living a good, strong, healthy, fun, flexible life. This is why she is truly LOVED by so many who attend her class and have had such amazing results for themselves. I honestly can’t imagine living somewhere where I could not get this benefit face-to-face four times a week. This class has given me a body that I’ve never experienced and an ability to do things with such ease and comfort. Honestly, it’s really hard to say enough great praises about Lorri and her HEALTHY POSTURE CLASS. Thank you, Summit, for caring enough to offer such a class like this and a jewel of an...
