We came to Florida from Chicago, and we had been customers of Life Storage for very many years; it was always a very good experience. We had an inside storage, and the building was kept well and the heat/AC always worked well. The people who were in the Administration office were always very nice and very helpful, so when we came to Florida, we looked for a Life Storage Facility to continue with our storage needs. When we were getting ready to move, we contacted "Life Storage" on Gandy Blvd. to be certain we had a contracted space at the time of the move. It is no longer Life Storage because it was bought out sometime after we arrived; it is now Extra Space Storage, but for us, there is not a difference, the building is clean, and well lighted, the elevator is really big so everything fits easily, and the building is well located and easily accessible for even the largest truck; it was very easy to arrive there on Moving Day. The temperature in the building is always kept well, and there are "lots of carts" so we have never had any competition to move things in or out. All things being equal, we made a very good decision planning our move to Florida with Extra Space Storage (LIfe Storage) to contain all the "stuff" that we needed to store having moved from a larger space to a smaller space here in Florida. The best part is the administration person is Bonnie, and she follows suit with being so helpful. She is so easy to communicate with, she returns phone calls, and has gone out of her way to be helpful a number of times. So often it is very difficult to get help for any number of reasons when the customer service isn't good, but Bonnie is "Always Good" and as a customer, it means so much. If you rent space there, you deal with Bonnie, and she will work to solve your problem as best she can. As we all know, good customer service really matters. So often today it seems customers are not well taken care of; we all have had difficult customer service people, and here if you need help, you can call Bonnie and she will do whatever she can to correct the problem; it sure saves the frustration, and the problem...
Read moreI've only just begun renting a unit at this location, but so far it has been a very pleasant experience. The online reservation process is easy to navigate and complete, and does not take very long. The information is also thorough on helping you choose an appropriate sized unit. I think all said and done (after reading through the agreements and contracts), it took me less than half an hour. The facility provides you with a lock, which is nice - it's the cam type, not your hardware store pick-up Masterlock. I came prepared, anyhow. The facility is very clean, easy to navigate, and provides carts for easy transport of your items. I am pleased with the price for the size of the unit currently being rented (5x10', first month free aside from the one-time fee for facility use and monthly item insurance). It is easy getting into the facility - it's the righthand turn off of 4th Street onto the service road that runs somewhat parallel to the Frontage Road that connects Gandy Boulevard. If you're headed southbound when leaving, it gets a little tricky. I've found the easiest way is to head down Gandy and make a u-turn after merging with traffic (or, use it as a good excuse to go hang out on the beach for a while afterward). The staff that I have interacted with thus far have been professional and polite, keeping me up to date with any necessary key codes and whatnot. The other tenants have been polite as well with keeping up with the current COVID guidelines and wearing masks, which I appreciate! My last little note is, it looks like the prices at this particular location seem to be less expensive than the other Extra Space Storage off of 4th Street and 72nd Avenue, which was another factor which swayed my decision. It's a little further out of the way, but I am currently happy with...
Read moreI will say that the facility is very clean and organized yet my experience with the front desk employee at the Gandy Blvd location in Tampa, FL location was less than satisfactory during my recent visit being that the front desk receptionist woman was extremely impolite. I was on my phone when arriving, i was speaking with my boss from work, when walking in to the ExtraSpace location I noticed the door was locked (at 4:30pm), the lady proceeded to stand in front of the door and ask me what I wanted (first of all I'm arriving during business hours, why is the door locked when I see her sitting at her desk). Secondly I attempted to show her the unit number my visit was pertaining to and she proceed to say in a very rude tone of voice "I don't know what you're showing to me, I have no idea what your here for, you're on your phone how do you expect me to help you". EXTREMELY RUDE. As an individual that works in the customer service industry I felt very disrespected by this employee. Even if I was in my phone I wasn't being disrespectful to her, she could have been much more curtious about the situation. I then asked if she could speak with me in a nicer tone and I still felt somewhat violated as a customer. By writing this I simply want this organization to understand the importance of customer service and how a customer should be treated. Within my job if I spoke to someone the way she did to me I could have very well...
