Alright ladies and gentleman buckle your pants and get ready for an inside scoop of this store. I am a former employee and they recently just screwed over a friend of mine which promoted me to make this review.
Weis has a weird system of management. You got your department managers like Grocery, Bakery, Cashier and Deli managers and for the most part there great people. Then there are the upper managers who manage the managers, this system of management opens a lot of finger pointing in the store which is not fun for anyone and is usually why we run out of certain items although that wasn't always the case. Upper management is just terrible, they constantly dismiss any problem you bring to them that doesn't immediately effect profits. when discussing what I thought was an error in my pay I was told "It's not important don't bother me." Another time I had mentioned we had a bad maggot problem that needed to be taken care of and that they got into some of the food. Guess how long we had maggots for, not a few days, not a few weeks, but two months.
Have you seen the signs around the store that say "Turn your job into a career?" Well that is one of the biggest lies around the store. They only hire part timers, even assistant managers get under 40 hours a week. This isn't this particular store fault but more so the owner of the Weis. They don't have to give us benefits if they have us work just under 40 hours a week. Because of that and how we are treated by upper management and the customers we have a huge turn over rate and never have enough hands when we need it. Weis also has no problem cutting your hours out of nowhere, a friend of mine just got a notice that he wont be working for an entire week and an old coworker, who mind you has a wife and kids, got his hours cut down to 20. There is no way you can support your family on just over $9 an hour working only 20 hours.
Some of you may have heard the second Weis in the Hamlin Plaza just closed down along with everything but Tractor supply and Mcdonalds. They bought out all the local mom and pop shops to put in a big super Weis which I would assume would come with a gas station. Because Hamlin's Municipal code that says Hamlin cant have more than two super markets Weis decided having a monopoly on both would be a great idea. I do not like that they put all those family run stores out of business just to hold a monopoly on the town.
Overall I think Weis markets is terrible and there are much better local options to shop at instead who's prices are the same if not better than theirs. I hope that this review can change who you decide to give your money to or will change Weis...
Read moreWe ordered a Weis2Go order because our car isn't drivable right now. First of all: the Weis associates pick out the food order and did a TERRIBLE job of it. We had purchased some items JUST because they were on sale (example: pork chops were buy 1 get 2 free. I put 3 in the cart to obtain the sales price. The store associate only collected 1). We received an emailed receipt showing 9 fewer items would be delivered and that this would cost us an additional $61 that was going to be charged upon delivery - because discount requirements weren't being met... which we made it a point to meet.
We called the store to see if they could fix the order. Dave, the front store manager, instead argued with us that only 2 items weren't collected, which wasn't what our emailed receipt showed. He wouldn't listen to us when we tried to explain what was missing. So we said 'cancel the order'. Then he said he couldn't refund our money unless we showed up in person... which we can't do because our car is out. So... Weis now has $141 of our money, and delivered ZERO ITEMS.
When asked for his manager, he wouldn't give us his name. When asked for his last name, he wouldn't provide. So we contacted corporate and are leaving as many reviews as possible to warn people against this store. We also contacted the store manager, Sam, who also was of no help. It really would have been more simple if they just had selected the appropriate food items as we ordered them - now this is a nightmare to get a refund.
We are currently in the process of borrowing a car from a neighbor so we can get our much needed food money back. This isn't what we signed up for when we thought we would take advantage of an advertised...
Read moreLet me start by saying I have been a Weis shopper for 30 years… today placed an order online for delivery from Weis Market in Hamlin….19 items were ordered….delivery time between 3PM and 4PM…finally at 4:23PM the order arrived…looks like some items are missing…sure enough 10 out of the 19 items are missing (strike one)! Call Weis…person who answers the phone tells me they are busy and he will have to call me back….strike two! Calls me back and says he will “try to find the missing items”…my question…”then what?”…response…”well we could refund you or you could figure something else out…we are busy today.”…strike three! REFUND MY MONEY AND I WILL BE SHOPPING ELSEWHERE! Fill out survey and express same. We have shopped at Weis for 30 years…and have been using delivery since it has started…recently each order has gotten progressively worse…rotten produce, dairy items near expiration date, stale baked goods…we are done! And those of you who truly know me, when I am done with a place, I AM DONE! Guess we will be trying Instacart next grocery order at a new store. If I could give this ZERO...
