Bud's Jewelers — Local services in Salem

I have been stopping in at Bud’s 3-4 times a month for the past eight months. I thought I’d be a long time customer. It’s such a neat little shop tucked away in a small town. Joe always seemed very nice and made me feel welcome. This is what makes it so difficult to write such a review. I was betrayed and others should know so that it doesn’t happen to them. I had lost a champagne diamond from my ring and lucky enough I found it. I take them in and Joe said that he would take care of it for me. I go in a week later and my rings not there, because they took it to the Corydon store to work on. No problem. They call me Tuesday and I come in the following Saturday (I live in Clarksville). I get my ring and all of the champagne diamonds had been replaced with white ones. My heart dropped, I fell in love with ring because it was unique. The rose gold paired so well with the champagne. I told him it didn’t look right and he said it’s the same. I knew it wasn’t right but said maybe it’s the lighting and he said that could very well be it. He was visibly mad and went to the back of the store ignoring us. Very unexpected. I immediately went to another jeweler and it was verified that they were not champagne diamonds and the prongs were so loose I was about to lose 3 stones. Long but worth the read!

I received one of my late grandmothers rings for my birthday on January 8. It needed to be taken down a few sizes to wear it comfortably. I dropped it off at Buds in Salem on January 8, where the lady at the counter (super nice lady) told me that the ring was not real and could not be resized. I assured her that the ring was real and it had been in our family for decades, and the reason it didn’t have an imprint on the inside is because my grandma had gotten it resized before. She ended up taking it and after a week I got a call asking if I would be willing to pay 50.00 for the resize. I said of course and let them go ahead and fix it. I then get a call 20 minutes later and she had forgotten we spoke and told me it would be 75.00. I was fine with it either way. I got one more call 3 weeks later letting me know the ring was ready for pickup. The caller ID said Corydon which is not where i dropped it off. I was okay with driving to Corydon so i made the trip to pick it up today even though I was never told the ring would have to go to Corydon to be resized. When i got to the store in Corydon, they wanted to charge me 164.00!! I politely let them know I would not be paying that and i ended up paying 65.00.
