Chuck was pleasant and courteous throughout the entire process when opening my account. He took the time to show me the unit before renting it and did not pressure any up sales. Overall a great experience! This is the place to go for your storage needs!!!

When my mother passed away in 2024, I chose Extra Space storage for my storage needs in a time of need. The location was convenient and close to my home. At the time, the pricing was reasonable for the size of the unit I had acquired (10x15).
I would soon realize how greedy this company is. When I opened my account, I was told that pricing would adjust to "market pricing" but little did I know that my rental (including insurance) would go from $197.74 to now almost $300/month in a little over a year!!
It seems their cycle for raising prices is about every 6 months. Chuck at the Salem facility was friendly and helpful, but this company should only be used for short term storage as they will continue to raise the pricing on you until you are forced out of your unit or worse, fall into default and lose all of your contents.
It seems that this is the way all storage facilities run now and are all franchised. If at all possible, avoid storing your contents with a franchise storage facility.

Read moreTheir online process is easy I will give them 5 stars for that But their management of the property is terrible I did the online process then confirmed everything with a phone call I spoke with someone and I was assured I was all set and the lock and keys were in the unit etc.,. Was emailed my codes etc I arrived after the office was closed Went to my unit only to find their lock still on it,, mind you I had a truck load of stuff I called customer service and they tried to call the manager and assistant manager//neither one answered They told me I would have to wait till the office reopens on Monday ..I stated I am supposed to wait because your managers can’t do their job? She refunded my money and I went to public storage/was treated professionally and everything they said they would do they did/ Good luck...

The online system is not 100%...
For a place that is not actively used, rate changes are problematic. This compounded by hair trigger foreclosure can be distressing.
I was told a rate of two years. Set automatic bill pay and put it out of mind. Good thing I looked to find the rate change slated my junk on the list to be put out!
Management, if you are listening - include a fixed rate for a period of time in the contract. Maybe even a grandfather clause...
