We were really excited to try this place — mainly because San Angelo doesn’t have many restaurant options, so anything new feels exciting. I remembered eating at this restaurant years ago in Plano and should’ve trusted my memory from that experience. Unfortunately, the food was just as flavorless as I remembered.
Still, I decided to give it another chance, so my daughter and I went on a Saturday night. They were very busy and there was a long wait. Getting on the waitlist was confusing — even though we joined it online, we still had to check in and get back on the list once we arrived, which made no sense. After waiting about 30 more minutes in the car, we were finally seated.
I’ll give credit where it’s due — the service was friendly and attentive, maybe even a little too much so. It felt like the staff was constantly watching the tables, but they weren’t actually picking up on cues that something was wrong. A manager stood right next to us for a while, yet didn’t seem to notice that we hadn’t touched our food.
When our waitress checked in, my daughter and I had already swapped meals, hoping we might like each other’s dish better — but that didn’t help. Everything we tried was either bland, undercooked, or had an off taste. The chicken tasted strange, the steak was undercooked, the rice was overdone, and the fries were soggy. The only thing we could eat was the Caesar salad, and even that was just okay.
Eventually, my daughter looked at me and said, “Do you just want to go get fast food and go home?” That summed it up. The whole experience was disappointing.
To their credit, the manager did comp our entrées, which I appreciated, but honestly, considering we didn’t eat any of it — not even the appetizer — I think the whole meal should’ve been comped.
I really do hope they succeed, especially since San Angelo needs more restaurant options, but for us, this just isn’t a place we’ll return to. Maybe it’ll work for people who don’t care much about flavor, but we were truly...
Read moreCalled ahead to get on the wait list at 11:00 am with a group of 7 for arrival at 11:30. Arrived at 11:30 and confirmed with hostess, but was told it would be another 30 min wait. 1.5 hours later after talking with a manager, our group was finally sat.
Took about 10 mins to get our drinks. Ordered the wild shrimp appetizer and they were cooked well and crunchy, but did not have the flavors the menu stated they should. Ordered courses with salads and soups as part of the sides. They never came before the meals, and we had to ask for them at which point the waitress didn't know what we had ordered as she couldn't see it on their system and apparently didn't write anything down or remember themself.
So then the salads and soups were brought out and our tightly packed table of 7 was now trying to eat on a cram-packed table of items. 1 dish was not even the right order at all. We were so hungry at this point that person just decided to eat the incorrectly brought entree.
Couple of the dishes were good, couple of the dishes seemed a bit on the salty side. Fried dishes were salty, steaks and chopped steaks were tasty. The salads were rough chopped with large pieces of lettuce. Soups were ok, one of the baked sweet potatoes was cooked on 1 half, and still uncooked on the other half.
Manager comped the one incorrect meal, and knocked 25% of the remainder, although 50% or more felt more appropriate 3 hours later when we were ready to leave from arriving. (We didn't sit and chat afterwards, as we were ready to get out of there).
Hostesses didn't leave me with any confidence in their abilities, not yet anyway. I know it's freshly opened, so maybe they can get a rhythm going, but for now we will not be back, ifever. ...
Read moreMy Husband and I came in for the first time yesterday night, and I have some mixed opinions. At the door, we were quoted a 30 minute wait, which was unusual for a Wednesday night, but it makes sense for a new restaurant. After they called us to get our table and we sat down, my husband and I both noticed how cold it was. So cold that he had to go out to the car and grab me and extra jacket. We sat in the corner of the restaurant right next to the door to what I assume is the kitchen (all the wait staff kept entering with plates and cups and whatnot), so it was a little noisy with all the wait staff walking through.
The service was great! Our waitress Kira was very friendly and joked with me and my husband the whole time, and was very personable. She was always coming around with a sweet tea pitcher (my husband is a tea chugger, LOL!) and we never had to ask for refills. We ordered the wild west shrimp for an appetizer and it was delicious!
Now, for our entrees, I got the parmesan crusted chicken with brussel sprouts and my Husband got a sirloin with mac and cheese. My chicken was great, and very hot! The brussel sprouts to me were just okay, but my husband loved them. My husband’s sirloin came out a perfect medium rare, however it was incredibly salty. The mac and cheese made up for it though! Our waitress also told us that next time we could get a steak with “less seasoning” so we will be coming back to see if that makes it even better! Overall, the food was good, the seasoning was just very strong.
While there is a few kinks that need to be ironed out, as with any new restaurant, we had a good time! San Angelo needs more exciting restaurants and I think Longhorn has...
