I had the pleasure of stopping by Mil Amores today for lunch, marking my first visit since its opening, and I was genuinely impressed.
The Good:
The atmosphere was the first thing to capture my attention. The aesthetics of this place transport you straight to a lively Mexican cantina. From the rustic tables and chairs to the vibrant fauna adorning the walls and ceilings, the decor is a feast for the eyes that sets the perfect tone for the meal.
Now, onto the food! I ordered the Grande Burrito, while my wife opted for the Taco Salad. Both dishes exceeded our expectations in flavor and presentation. The portions were just right for a satisfying lunch—not overwhelming, but hearty enough to leave us content.
And let’s talk about the queso! I’ve come to expect smaller portions of queso at most places, so I went ahead and ordered the large. All I can say is: kudos to the chef! It was creamy, flavorful, and generously portioned—definitely a highlight. From the appetizers to the entrées, and even the drinks, everything was crafted with care and delivered a delightful culinary experience.
A special shoutout goes to the wait staff, who went above and beyond to ensure we had a great experience. They were attentive, kept our drinks topped off, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. Their friendly and efficient service made our visit even more enjoyable.
The Not-So-Good:
The only downside to our visit was the seating. While the tables and chairs fit the cantina vibe beautifully, they weren’t the most comfortable for dining. I found myself having to lean forward more than I’d like, and the table base made it hard to scoot in for a more comfortable position. However, this was a minor inconvenience in an otherwise fantastic experience.
Final Thoughts:
Mil Amores delivers a wonderful mix of ambiance, delicious food, and attentive service. Despite the minor seating issue, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit and would happily recommend this restaurant to friends and family. If you’re looking for an authentic and satisfying dining experience, Mil Amores...
Read moreWhat a complete (and good!) 180 from the restaurant that occupied the same building previously! The food menu is absolutely massive, and the drinks menu is very impressive.
I had ordered from this restaurant on Uber Eats a few weeks before this review, and was so impressed by the takeout that I had to try it in person. It seems like many of their dishes have a more classic interior Mexico influence rather than being standard Tex-Mex food you can get anywhere. A welcome addition to San Angelo, for sure!
The restaurant was pretty packed when we arrived (around 8:30 PM on a Saturday), but we were able to be seated within about 10 minutes. The staff were friendly and reasonably attentive (it was quite busy, so it took some time to get our orders in), but the food was more than worth the wait!
So far, I've tried various iterations of their enchiladas (I particularly recommend the jalapeño sauce), the chile rojo & enchilada combo (excellent!), the huge smothered burrito that's as big as a large dinner plate (can't remember the name - without lettuce it would be amazing), and the queso flameado with chorizo (greasy, but delicious!). All exceeded my expectations.
The restaurant is more or less one large room with a bunch of tables and a bar, so between the music and the other patrons, it was quite loud. If you're looking to have a lot of in-depth conversation or do a business lunch/dinner, this would not be a good venue unless you can find a slow time for them. Additionally, they would periodically turn up the music and bring out special flights of alcoholic beverages (held in a bull, plane, etc.) to other tables, so it's more of a party atmosphere than a relaxed one. All in all, the restaurant is tastefully/playfully decorated and comfortable, just don't expect a quiet,...
Read moreMy family and I went to dine to mil amores The food is horrible, but the aesthetic and the environment is nice, which is why my family and I kept trying to give it a chance. The last straw was when we went for the show on Friday night and they overcharged us on drinks. This is not the first time it has happened. This is the third time they charge extra drinks onto our ticket, the first and second time we let it slide because we understand mistakes happen and I’m not the type of person that writes bad reviews however I don’t like when they take advantage of people, especially of me and my family when we try to resolve this with Brian he didn’t even give us a chance to explain he was very standoffish, very rude and said that no matter what we say, he will be charging. In my personal opinion, that’s not good customer service that’s telling me you do not care about your people they only care about how much money they are making. especially when we were trying to be nice and talk to Brian, I stress I would not be writing this review if Brian would have just been more comprehensive and willing to have a conversation and explain to us nicely and listen to us from our point of view. So for those who are reading this review, I advise if you still decide to go to Mil amores, make sure to keep A close eye onto their ticket and make sure everything is being charged correctly because again I stress this wasn’t the first time this is the third time that it has happened to us, and this will be the last because we will not be returning. So I’ll give credit where is due the environment is good. Their aesthetic is nice, but their food is not good whatsoever and they lack empathy towards...
