Culebra Meat Market 3 — Local services in San Antonio

This place is incredibly ghetto. It doesn't really belong in the area and the moment you walk in the front door, look up. That's your clue to leave. This isn't that part of the south side... At night, it seems to attract alot of attention from less than desirable individuals who don't live in the area but use the busline at the corner. Many of those individuals have no business being in this area either... It's not a bad area It's heavily populated by military and hispanics that are very financially wealthy. Even the public parks, trader's village, and the new businesses going up here reflect their community wealth. Most of the local businesses here do such an excellent job in lawn care, property maintenance, and fresh paint that this thing stands out in a very bad way. It's a shame it's on the busline. Any time a business is, it will suffer the appearance of a vandalized location.

I prefer to buy things elsewhere, the matching Valero's down the street, the CVS and the Family Dollar, or just make the drive to the Walmart one exit up or the HEB's in either direction. HEB is considering expanding close to Trader's Village anyways so don't expect this place to be here many years from now. There is alot of graffiti on the building they are not concerned with, the parking lot is actually half gravel in an area they are not permitted to be. Their lot doesn't actually expand to that point, and they've been ignored by city council and code enforcement for some strange reason. Yet they use it anyways during largely celebrated latino holidays for overfill. Police officers often stop in the parking lot at night for their reports, breaks, and to deter crime. The neighborhood behind it is actually quite nice for the southside.

Fast cashiers, terrible product rotation, excessive clutter near the front door, and the front door does not have an air curtain. It's extremely irresponsible environmentally as well as energy inefficient that nearly all of their air conditioning, refrigerators, and the lighting are costing them a fortune in electricity. Their roof AC's are visible from the street and they've done nothing to improve their appearance since their original installation. Manager Alejandra is rude. Did not even want to speak to customer with a complaint. I had to go outside and call on the phone to speak with her because she didn’t want to come to the register. Buyer beware they switched out honeycomb menudo for regular menudo and up-charged by placing a sticker that says honeycomb. When told that perhaps that it was a mistake she said they don’t make mistakes. I asked if I could switch it out for regular menudo and she said no since I already touched the bag that they would have to throw it away since COVID is around. Mind you they told me to return to the store to get it taken care of. So I asked if there was a corporate number or anyone else I could talk to, she told me there is no corporate # and I could call Monday and speak with Victor the owner. She laughed when I told her ok that I would call and speak with a manger above her or the owner Victor and said sure.

We have previously purchased honeycomb menudo from this location and have never had an issue. Today was a 1st incident we have had. This will be the last time I visit any Culebra Meat Market and will let all my family and friends know about this mishap. I know one person doesn’t make a difference but to their sales but hopefully it will help...

This place really needs new cashiers ..they are soo rude and i called to speak to a manager and they say they dont have one soo if u want to put a complain u cant..another thing its the 3rd time i get meat from there that as soon as i buy it than come home to cook it and it i opened it and it smells bad my daughter said it tasted bad i had to throw all of it away .. never going here again 😫im sending this store the city .. my kids got food poisoning were sick for 5days the 4 times i bought meats they smelled bad ...the veggies too they are not even fresh and they charge expenssive the only reason i would go here was cause is close to my house ..it sucks cause u cant even complain with someone or get ur money back ..but is not worth coming here i dont care if i have to drive more far just to get one thing im def.
