So far my least favorite Costco I've been to. Would give it 1 Star but its still Costco. The cashier wouldn't crack a smile. The cashier helper was yelling at the customer in front of me yelling, "These bags are not for this! These bags are for meats!" It was pretty embarrassing watching the employee rip the bags out. For some reason the hot dogs in the food court weren't up to par. Costco hot dogs are normally a hit no matter what. I only receieved 1 drink when I paid for 2. Service was fast, though. Maybe cause they weren't busy. Which is not normal for a Costco food court. I'll stick to the busier Costcos in Chula Vista. Even though they're more crowded and have longer lines. That cashier helper, though! Updated: 2nd visit. My huge mistake. Didn't learn from last time but came here thinking only they had something I was specifically looking for. Did several returns and got A LOT less than what I paid for!!! Bought a Garmin watch online. Didn't open it. Returned it. Got back $92 but paid $250!!!!? Same with 4 other items I returned! This is unbelievable! This is not a Costco. This is a Wal-Mart.

You can find about anything and everything at Costco. They have consistently been the forerunner store of bulk sale. Even single people buy at Costco, bulk. I see that the food court is pre-paid system located at the food court. Order food that you want listed on menu and then pick up food at one or the two lines that’s open. Both lines are usually long but then, what is Costco without a long line anywhere. The Gateway Costco location is conveniently on the corner, with several entrances, to its parking lot. It’s also located off the freeway. There are lots of shopping carts but parking space has got to be the biggest pain in the but. The biggest challenge compared to other Costco locations in southbay area of San Diego. During the holidays, I remember seeing cars all over the place, going round and round looking for a parking spot. PS pls stop raising membership fees and stopping skimping on products and then upping the prices

Costco is the most magical amazing place on earth for someone in their 30’s. It’s all me and my friends talk about: “did you get this delicious snack at Costco?! Me too!! I love Costco!!” To top off shopping there, you get to treat yourself to an amazing hot dog, or chicken bake, or piece of pizza that is so cheap that the company is losing money on it, but you- YOU are just full of joy for getting THE ONE and ONLY deal left in life in 2025 that is there purely to make you happy and keep you as a customer. I love you Costco. I hope you defend yourself from any hostile hedge fund takeovers that you may have in the future… like poor Southwest Airlines. They used to be good, but now - just another evil corporation trying to nickel and dime everyone to death. How sad.

We have been customers since it was the original price club back in the day. Now we live downtown and shop at the South East San Diego/Gateway drive costco that is much closer to us but -believe it or not- after several years of bouncing between Morena location and the Guetto location, I appreciate the closeness of the store but the staff at Gateway are way less professional than at Morena and I can say that because I buy over $6000 in groceries for my family at costco every year. The reason for my one star review today has to do with the 'SHABU SHABU' meat (its New York steaks thinly cut) ... at the Morena location the meat is always fresh and amazing ... but guess what? down in the guetto where the Goyem live we get the worst garbage meat. I spent almost $100 bucks on 2 packs of SHABU SHABU' and what they sold me was absolute garbage, old meat and poorly cut and way harder than that from the Morena location. Generally the prices are the same at both $11 a pound and I buy about $100 bucks of this meat per month, its a staple in our diet, but if I want the decent meat I have to drive to Morena, otherwise its hit or miss at Gateway drive but the meat is always better in Morena ... The place where you review the Gateway location has almost zero reviews, its mostly working class people that shop there but a few of us that live downtown and don't want to spend a fortune on the local grocery stores still use costco. They always send the crappiest meat there and they never let you return it either. I recently bought $100 bucks worth of flank steak/choice meat (so is the shabby) and it looked very red and beatiful but it was inedible, it was chewy like rubber, the sell by date is always maybe 5 days maximum after its put on the shelf but they did not let me return it saying it was past the expiration date when it was the sell by date ... I'm not going to drive back to costco just to stand in line and return a bad meat, I showed up less than 2 weeks later and they gave me the shaft, then the manager there a younger hispanic kid with big glasses who thinks he owns the franchise came over, very arrogant and belittleling and told me that he was going to remove my ability to return food, just out of nowhere! Horrible, the self check out people don't help you at either location, that's a common trait and if its stressful going to costco to shop to save some money then imagine what these people who work there have to endure to work there so I do feel bad for them but you don't have to act like a complete donkey just because you hate your job, some of us like to treat others with courtesy and consideration despite the circumstances, so absolutely horrible management! maybe because the people that shop there are mostly blue collar workers from small towns in Mexico they feel they can treat you with contempt there but the price of the meat is the same at both locations! I've actually seen this NY shabby be a dollar more at Gateway where we get the crappiest meats than at Morena where the well to do parade day and night.

Anyways, treasure your Morena location because further down the trough there is a darker abyss within the realms of what costco is.

Also, I'm stuck with $100 dollars of really crappy NY, can I drive to Morena and get better meat? Why do the goyem/minorities always get the shaft? and pay the same or more? Any of the big wigs at this flagship costco able to give...

I picked up some of my parts from LH Miller Toyota, then need some items from Costco. I searched nearby stores & all 3 stores nearby have the same ratings of 4.5 but the one in Gateway has the highest number of reviews so I went there even though it is not the closest to where I live. I picked up some items then I saw the Michelin wipers, I need these for my truck. I got the size I needed then I saw one of the wiper boxes was already opened so I decided to try to feel the blade if they are good but it was stuck it is pretty deep inside tried to flip the box but it wouldn't come out of the box. Then someone from the back told me i should not open it and that if I didn't like it just return it back. I looked back & saw a costco employee stock filing some items. I didn't say anything I just nodded & walked away. After I passed maybe 10 feet away, this guy still talking bad about me saying I opened the box but grabbed other wiper boxes. I turned around & confronted him. I saw his nametag, “ERNESTO”. I said “Look, Ernesto, I didn't open the box it was already open I was just trying to feel the wiper blade if they are good . I already walked away & didn't quit talking bad to me.” First of all, he didn't say excuse me or can I help you with something? for I needed some help, none of that. But kept talking after I already walked away. To me this was not acceptable, Ernesto. You need to learn some good customer service & some etiquette. I'm posting this thing knowing my full name is here. But I needed people to know especially your supervisor what happened & what you have done to a customer like me. Hopefully, your supervisor will get back to me. Today is 8/17/2024. The incident happened at around 5:30 pm, at Costxo...

It’s a fairly decent Costco really no complaints. I go to this one over Mission Valley because it’s a people of color Neighborhood being straight up. It’s in SouthEast and as we all know, SouthEast used to be black but now it’s more you know other ethnicities there, but the only complaint I have is the Pizza pick up. I don’t know why so many people cut the line and not wait Line like you’re supposed to and I don’t know why the workers there don’t tell the people not to do that and I don’t know why people keep cutting me of all people. It’s very disrespectful. I don’t know what privilege they think they have over me and I’ve seen it done to other people, they don’t realize we call ahead of time so I have a pick up time so you trying to check your order does not my order when I’m trying to get my order as well and I seen it happened to another man where she said can I go ahead of you real quick and he said I’m here for a certain time too and she’s just standing there and I’m next after him , so the workers have to do a lil better I know they busy and stressed but they DONT have to service them and say you have to wait in line and they need to put a sign that says “please wait YOUR TURN in line for your order. Don’t walk up to the window!!” if happened for the fifth time yesterday a line cutter and they act like you shouldn’t say anything to them. Put a sign that says WAIT IN LINE. If you have a sign that says order over the phone, you encourage order over the phone ahead of time then put a sign that says please wait in line. No cutting the line because this is how start fight start since people can’t act civilized...
