I honestly can't say enough good things about this place. Super accomodating staff, as well as super friendly. The only thing I found odd, was they charge for ice. .25 for as much as you can get while you hold the handle down, I guess. However, we asked about it at the office, and they gave us the quarter. I would imagine they probably have enough rif-raf in the area, that they need to charge for it in order to keep enough ice in the machine for guests.
Do not judge the book by it's cover! The exterior of the lodge looks run down. The interior honestly... took my breathe away when I walked in. It looks and feels as if you are entering a spa. Just beautiful and relaxing. Granted, if you WANT to find faults, as some reviews seem to, you are going to find them. Nothing, nobody, is perfect. The parking is tight, especially when guests do not have consideration for others and park over the lines, it's impossible to fit a vehicle in, unless you get in early, or ask management to ask a guest to move their car. We stayed in 4 and every night it wreaked of marijuana. I figured the first night it was because the window was wide open, however, the next night was possibly even worse with the window closed up, so it must have drifted through the walls, etc. Our bathroom faucet and underneath the sink were both leaking real bad. Why guests didn't let management know this before is beyond me. We mentioned it to them, they thanked us, and took care of it the very next day.
Overall, a very nice place, nice experience, would definitely stay here again, and would highly recommend. I don't know the area enough to say how safe it is, but it feels safe enough. As well, the room was clean, and no bugs as some had claimed. I work in the service industry myself and when a job is well done, the service is exceptional, it needs to be recognized. There are way too many people who look for the negative, create drama, or can just plain never be pleased. They are the ones who typically write the reviews that can create such a negative impact. And, I don't believe they even realize how badly they can affect the business with their review. I also don't believe many of them have ever had the pleasure of serving others, so they cannot appreciate what all is involved in serving others and appreciating them.
Job well done you all, at the Lodge! Thank you for a relaxing, pleasureable experience! (no pun intented with our room smelling...
Read moreThere were cockroaches all over the room and what looked alarmingly like a blood stain on the curtain next to the bed. Have photos but can’t find how to attach. We are not the kind of people who want to make trouble but we expect a certain level of cleanliness even in a basic hotel/motel room and cockroaches in the room are straight up not ok. We felt compelled to write this because others should know before putting themselves in that position. We tried repeatedly to speak to the manager to ask him to make it right and were repeatedly ignored. We explained everything to the staff and they agreed with our concerns, promising that the manager would call us but he never did.
We got to the Lodge at 32nd about 9:15pm and had to wait about 30 minutes before the room was ready because it still hadn’t been cleaned from the previous night. The clerk at the front desk let us look at a “good room” first which would have been over $200 for the night if we didn’t want to wait until our room was clean. We opted to wait because we were already going to be charged $169 for the night.
The cleaning staff changed the sheets but didn’t do much else. At about 10:15pm, we saw the first cockroach. We killed it and immediately went to the front desk to report it to try to see if we could change rooms or even get refunded and leave. The clerk had left for the night, so we were stuck. We were very close to sleeping in our car instead of that room.
This lodge is not clean, run by disrespectful and unprofessional people, and immensely overpriced because if they’re charging so much for a dirty and shabby room they should DEFINITELY be able to afford extermination and not risk their guests’ health. Even giving this place 1 Star...
Read moreAs a younger sailor, just having been homeport-shifted to the 32nd street naval base, Ive been searching for a place to spend the night and use the internet for gaming until I am able to get a barracks. I've spent time at the navy lodge, gateway inn, and a few other hotels in the area and they just dont compare!
The Lodge @ 32nd is a pretty great little hotel and just up the street from the base is only a quick walk, bike ride or Uber/Lyft away from the base. It's really cheap on price-line or orbitz, (around 52-60$ + a 6 $ tax.) only has a 50$ holding fee (compared to the 100 or 150 ones I've seen in similar level hotels), and the wifi is actually reallllly good and the aesthetic is superb despite being cheap. Additionally, if you spend 2 nights you get the third night for FREE, making it a really great place to spend the weekend for cheap. It has a very distinct Spanish design to it, despite it's very simple outside it has been remodeled extensively. Inside, in addition to the usual accommodation was a clean analog alarm clock, complete with metal bells, complimentary gum and nasal strips to help you sleep along with the normal shampoo and whatnot. Additionally, it had PLENTY of room if I were to have a guest over, and the desk connected to the wall is large enough for two computers or a video game console, along with the pretty decent flat-screen t.v.
All in all, this cheap little find is actually uniquely, very pleasant, I'll definitely be coming back on the weekends and some week days until I get my...
