Beware of Severe Fraudulent Business Activity at the Location
Starting with the positive, Planet Fitness - Euclid is an adequate gym that is clean, cost effective and conveniently located off Euclid Ave. The equipment seems relatively new with minimal wear and tear. There are a sufficient number of machines to support the demand. I rarely encountered any issues with having to wait a significant amount time for equipment I needed; other than the massage chairs which are often occupied and require a wait to use.
The reason for the one star review is their fraudulent business practices and abhorrent customer service. I continued to be billed monthly for a membership I cancelled in person, at the location, previously. When I contacted Planet Fitness' corporate office I was directed to an automated message stating all cancellations of membership need to be made at the location due to independent ownership of each property. I then contacted Plant Fitness - Euclid and spoke with a manager who informed me there was no record of my cancellation and no remaining staff employed at the time I cancelled my membership in November 2016. In other words, there was nothing that could be done to refund the fraudulent charges that were made over the year plus my credit card was charged and they would continue to charge my card unless I came in again and cancelled my membership in person. After explaining I do not live in San Diego and only obtained a membership during a short vacation to visit my family over the holidays, she instructed me to send a certified letter requesting cancellation of my account and only upon receipt of said letter would Planet Fitness - Euclid stop charging my credit card. That's a terrible business practice for any business. I am skeptical they would proceed ethically and cancel the membership even with a certified letter after how they mismanaged my initial cancellation request in person, in Nov. 2016.
Ultimately my credit card company got involved and issued a stop payment for this business to cease further charges from being fraudulently processed. I'm grateful there are still some protections in place for consumers being taking advantage of by businesses like Planet Fitness - Euclid. Otherwise, there would be zero accountability for their malfeasance.
If you join this gym and seek to cancel your membership, I highly recommend retaining a hard copy of written documentation of your request to cancel your membership for your personal records and keeping that record on file for years after your cancellation in the event you notice unauthorized charges from this business on your credit...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI been a member since 2018 and never have I NEVER had an issue at this gym. This has always been my primary location but on 7/21/25 I had a bad experience from a female employee that I did not appreciate at all. I went to the gym between 3pm-5pm while I was working out I had my small gym bag next to me but the employee suggested for me to have it in the inside of the machine where the weights are which I complied. But when I got to the pull down machine there was no placement to put my small gym bag so instead I placed my bag 2 inches away from my feet. The same employee approached me and told me I had to leave after I was done with my set. Stating āI had already told you about your bagā⦠which I was confused about because my bag was not in anyoneās way. After I was done with my set I approached the front desk and she proceeded to say that she had warned me multiple times when clearly she only told me once. And followed with suggesting to change my workout routine. Which I found disrespectful because she doesnāt know my situation to make those suggestions and continued stating that I have the option to also take multiple trips into the locker room to change my equipment. This employee was clearly young and appears to not have enough customer service training. So instead I left quietly and respectfully to not bother...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI just finished a road trip from Portland, OR down to San Diego. During that trip, I stopped at five PF locations (not including the three I frequented in Portland), so I speak with some authority when I say that the locker rooms at this location are the filthiest in the country.
The showers were disgusting (I thought I would get a staff infection just looking at them), there was crusty grime on the sink faucets, all the lockers were dusty and dirty with some containing left behind socks and underwear, plus many had broken locks. Apart from some dirty medicine balls and shoddy mats, the front was clean, and everything appeared operational, including the water fountain which was sparkling-- but that doesn't make up for the reprehensible state of the locker rooms.
And I don't want to hear the classist b/s of "you get what you pay for." Just because this membership is at a lower price point, does not give whoever manages and operates these locations the right to let the facilities go to filth. People with lower spending limits have just as much right to physical health and well being as people with country club memberships. If something isn't done about the Euclid and University locations, I'll cancel my membership, encourage others to do so, and to not join these clubs.
