The food was honestly mid, nothing special, but I did enjoy it and finish it all especially the dirty Mac. I think the customer service can be worked on. I was actually with my sister in law and we had gone to a pho spot, but got up and left because we decided to come to the food truck instead. We ordered for pick up in the car and made our way over. I got my confirmation of my order and so did she, and while I admit I could have prevented the next thing from happening had I actually opened my email, I didn’t, but I don’t feel like that excuses the attitude I was met with. For online orders you need an ID for pick up, which honestly makes sense since you’re basically confirming you made the online payment. I didn’t have my physical card, and when I said it I got cut off with a rude smile and a repeated “you need id for online orders”. I felt shocked for a second at being cut off of speaking so quickly, and honestly felt kind of stupid. So without asking if I could show a picture of it on my phone, I walked back to the car. My sister in law said ask if you can show a pic of it, so I did and everyone else was really nice about it, but the original rude person never came back out. So I got my food, but I’m really bothered by the fact that I had to ask about a different solution, instead of it being suggested to me. Instead I was cut off and she was really ready to let me just walk away without trying to work with me at all. Had I left I wouldn’t have even been comfortable about a refund which I’m sure wouldn’t have gotten (maybe I would have, still haven’t opened the email). Anyways, I won’t be going back. The trucks cuisine is a good one and it’s really creative, but the vibes are...
Read moreReview is left in good faith from a customer who is tired of giving this place a chance... to keep it short, food is great (if they haven't ran out of sides midway through being open- over a span of 2 years I've never seen them have all menu items available until close) in comparison to most soul food places here in SoCal (not many) - the service however is not great, at all.
Despite the decent food every time I go, I'm irritated. I've paid extra for sides I have not received, and then received an attitude when following up. I have called to inquire about sides & was greeted in rude manner AND hung up on. And I came across their business page and they seem to exploit customers whom they have bad service with (understandable but unprofessional) which is so outlandish to me.. They make it very hard to support local businesses when we pour into the community only to receive poor service. If I could make a suggestion to the owner, please acquire customer service training.. If I could make a suggestion to the consumer, please bring your patience with you before you go. Also, if your workers are going to be ill-mannered and rude, consider dropping your prices to...
Read moreMy husband and I vacationed for our wedding anniversary in the beautiful San Diego, California. Upon visiting, we made it our business to find a Soul Food restaurant there. Upon visiting, we checked out different restaurants and came across Chef Budda Blasian Soul Food. The menu in itself was enticing enough. With great anticipation, we drove to their Food Truck, which is located in San Diego. Once there, he and his wife were amazing. He kindly assisted with our menu choices and answered any questions we had. Let me say this to you: This food did not disappoint. The fried catfish was fried to the heavens! Crispy, yet flavorful and tender on the inside. The candid yams rocked my entire world; they were delicious (My Granny would be proud!!) The greens—OMG! Coming from the South, I expected the same greens style, but oh no, Chef Budda greens had a unique taste that made me analyze the seasonings in great detail: The Mac & Cheese — Sweet Baby Jesus!!! The fried chicken! Was Amazing! Again, my Granny would be proud. Everything was tender as a Mother’s Love! Til next...
