Richard Joseph Salon — Local services in San Diego

I am a concerned patron of this establishment, customer of Tammy Patek since 2020. Today will be the last day I ever talk to her again. I sincerely wish her well because I do believe there is something wrong with her. The last time I was in her chair was back on MAR 17th. I cancelled my last appointment in May because I notice a decline in her services last time I rendered them in MAR. Her services have just mainly gone down hill, just completely underwhelming, nothing special, edgy or stylish about her hair services whatsoever and I tip her very well and I often times but product. She is really just not into what she is doing, almost like not there, just very blasé. She gets annoyed very easily, she’s not happy for you, can’t go with the flow. It’s hard to be in her chair because she make you feel badly about your hair. I really wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt this time because she’s been my go-to and unfortunately she didn’t it again to me today and when I stood up for myself and tried to make her aware she told me to leave without remorse. She does not like to do real hairstyles like a stylist and complains all of the time like a grouchy old lady, she should go work at a Supercuts. She is not well and should not work at such a reputable...

I can't speak highly enough of Tammy Patek at Richard Joseph Salon. She is a Redken-certified colorist who is always working to further her skills, taking the time for education in order to stay at the top of her game. She is so great to work with: Communicative, a clear expert, detail-oriented, kind, relaxed and easy going. She is also a straight-shooter -- something I appreciate. If your hair is damaged or can't handle something or won't turn out as you hope or in the timeframe you wish, she will tell you, directly, rather than pocketing your money and doing further damage. She has integrity. She doesn't rush. She makes sure it is exactly right, every time. She has been doing my hair for more than 20 years. She now does both of my young adult daughters' hair, too (one = classic California-style, the other = super-edgy hipster wolf cut) -- they won't go to anyone else. They are the best. Rick did my hair for many years, always fantastic. I needed a color correction brunette to blonde after I was accidentally sent the wrong color from an online color bar, he referred me to Nick. Nick was fabulous. He has almost 30 years in the biz and comes from los Angeles! I am so thrilled with the results. I will be with them for life! No need to switch salons. They are all experts. My cut is also super cute! I just loved the whole experience, I was pretty nervous. Truly talented and great listener. Nick repeated all of my concerns and his knowledge and understanding led to a gorgeous color and cut. I am 65 and have been all over the world and to the best and Nick is right at the top. Rick is the owner and I loved having him do my hair. He knew who to recommend in his salon and I trusted his guidance....
