Tonight was not a good night for service. I came with a friend, and we were seated at the outside area fairly quickly. The server came by soon after to ask us for our orders, and we told him we would start with waters while we took a look at the menu and decided on what to eat. He gave us our waters and left to attend other people while we looked over the menu. The server never came back to our table to ask us if we were ready to order anything else, even after a couple was seated next to us and given drinks. We waited between 15-20 minutes for the server or someone to come back to us so we could order, but it felt like we were intentionally ignored, especially after the server dropped the drinks off at the table next us, then proceeded to SKIP our table to ask another table if they were all good with their food and drinks while we were sitting down with only 2 glasses of water.
In all the years I've been to HBC, I've never had service as bad as tonight. Usually HBC has some of the best service, but it was extremely lacking tonight. It definitely sucks, since I love going here and I was looking forward to the food. And no, the place was not extremely busy. I counted maybe 5 or 6 other tables at most, with half of them already with food...
Read moreThis place is a great addition to Hillcrest. Lots of evenings have started and concluded here. The food is consistently good, and the full bar doesn't doom me to having a beer. The service has always been good, but lately I've noticed a push by some of the wait-staff to move a group of people to a larger table. Sometimes you just want to stand by some friends for a couple minutes before moving along to the bar, but immediately a worker tries to get the party to move to a large table and all get tabs going. Can't blame the wait-staff too much, but it really interrupts the social environment. That being said, I'd add HBC is probably the top choice for food on that side of Hillcrest. Pretty central and close to most events: Pride,...
Read moreUnfortunately had an unfortunate experience after entering the establishment after the bouncer had let us in (group of 3) who were not drunk… some older gal (who I suppose was part of management) said that our front runner was a girl was a girl denied her saying that “we will not be able to serve you” when in fact the three of us did not stumble in any way shape or form. We thought this place was cool and was gonna be our spot but as long as the short, white girl with the short black hair is there don’t go there. She has no way of confirming that you’re good to drink or not…. That’s what bouncers are for lady… come on… I hope you read this, because we actually liked your place until we ran until this situation tonight… happy...
