YOU JUST CAN'T MAKE THIS STUFF UP. Update 7-8-2025
Still crickets🤔🤨
Absolutely the worst experience I have ever had buying shoes. I drove 20 miles to get 2 pair of Hoka walking shoes. 1st, it felt like a hustle from the very second I walked thru the door. The greeter passed me off to a "sole", yes "sole" salesman who put me on 3 machines to measure my feet and to make a custom shoe insert.
Wait, I'm buying (2) pair of $160 shoes, why do I need sole inserts? Anway, then from there the sole salesman turned me over to the shoe salesman who tried to sell me a brand I had no interest in. Finally, in between helping me and a family of 4, he eventually brought out several pairs of Hoka's, none of which fit. But wait, didn't I just spend 30 minutes on their machines measuring my size, if so then why did I get 3 pairs that were the wrong size. Finally I was shown 3 other pairs, of which I chose 2.
Here's where it gets good. I wait in line for another 15 minutes to pay for said shoes. The other customers were not happy either having to wait this long. One gentlemen asked if we could get someone else to help. Without missing a beat the cashier shouted back "NOPE".
Now it's time for me to pay. With the two pairs of shoes, 2 "custom" made inserts and 8 pair of socks the total was approximately $600+. It's then that the wheels fell off the bus for me. The cashier stated if you pay $20 for our VIP membership you will get 10% off your order. WHAT, I'm already spending $600+ in your store and you want another $20?
With that, I left everything on the counter and walked out. If they needed that extra $20 that bad, they should questioning there business model.
After leaving there I went across the street to REI. I questioned the salesman about the "sole inserts". He had never heard of such a thing, and said "if you're buying Hoka's you don't need inserts From there I left with 2 new pairs of Hoka's.
And to Rhian F who never got back to me since September 28. because I left an unfavorable comment on Facebook, I got tired of waiting for your "follow-up". Below is your reply in case you forgot
"Hi Doug! I saw you comment, and I wanted to let you know that I am part of the team that would respond to a review or an email to us here at corporate. Please let me know if I can assist. - Rhian F"
"Hi Doug! Can you let me know which location you visited so I can have a retail manager reach out to you? - Rhian F
ME: San diego. I was in the process of writing an email but can't find an email address on your web page.
"I understand. Let me know when a good time would be to give you a call, and I can escalate to the correct department if needed. - Rhian F"
ME " Again, I think this decision and conversation is to be made way above a manager's level. Just my thoughts. that
"OK. Thank you for letting me know. I will email them today and ask that they follow up with you. - Rhian F"

Read moreWanted to take the time to leave a 5-star review for the amazing customer service by every single employee I engaged with on Saturday! Roadrunner can get pretty busy on the weekends, and that’s a testimony in itself that you are shopping at the right place to find the perfect shoe. When it comes to training for marathons, you don’t mess around with wearing the wrong shoe. Likewise you shouldn’t mess around in general with wearing the wrong shoe for even everyday walking! They get it! They are shoes experts! That being said, the 3 employees who helped me at the check-in counter were patient, kind, understanding and friendly! Being busy can lead to pressure and tension but supervisor, Diana, Victoria and Monte did not seem frazzled or panicked. They greeted each customer who walked through the door with a smile on their face and they did not rush anyone along. Being a long time customer, I knew what shoe I needed, but was also interested in trying another type of shoe for my speed work days. I stayed at the front with them since I did not need a shoe expert and watched as all 3 of them handled the rush of customers at the door on Black Friday. Diana I was super knowledgeable and knew her stuff! She knew exactly what size I would need in the other brand of shoe based on the size I wear in Brooks. I knew I had to walk out of the store that day with new Brooks and Monte and Victoria made sure that happened! They could have sent me away with putting my shoe on order but they double checked for inventory stocked further in their warehouse. It took longer to get to them but they made sure someone brought them down. I was not in a hurry as I was trying out the two other pair for my speedwork. Diana assured me it was okay to take as much time as I needed as I made my decision between the two. And even after that she checked the inventory for other colors for me. Again, this was all while they were helping all the customer flow at the front door! My last experience was the check out at the register and Dominic was super friendly and thanked me for patiently waiting. He was genuinely happy for me that I got my pair of Brooks I needed and excited for my new purchase with the Hokas. I was there for a long time but the whole time I was there it was a pleasant experience and I felt the staff really...
Read moreOne of the most frustrating places i’ve been. I’m on holidays here in san diego and my brother asked to search for an ON pair of sneakers - it was literally just seeing them, asking for his size and paying. Instead I was greeted with a woman who stopped me and said there was a 25 min wait, for what? I’m not familiar with this store’s concept but I just wanted to see the shoes and buy them. Finally she allowed me to see their available models, once my brother told me which one to choose I asked for his size 10 1/2. I really don’t know how their inventory works but I just saw the guy look up some Excel and told me “yeah they’re coming right out in a bit”. Fast forward 15 min later he comes and tells me sorry we don’t have that size so he brought me a 10. He had just told me that since my brother is a 10 he recommended to order half a size up since the shoes tend to be tight, so I really didn’t understand his decision making to bring me a size 10. We were not satisfied due to not knowing if it would be the right size so I ordered a size 11. Same thing, they told yeah they’re coming right out. I waited 20 min and the store was almost closing, 3 times I asked them once again and I got the same response, yes they’re coming right out. I felt so ignored, I started queueing to pay otherwise they were gonna close. 15 min waiting there again, and once i’m about to go next, the guy comes over, hands me a bar code and says yeah we don’t have a size 11, but you can have them shipped. I had just told him I live in Mexico so he already knew they obviously don’t ship to Mexico. It was honestly so frustrating to have waited over an hour for shoes when they could have just said right away we don’t have that size. Now I keep receiving emails from them to have me come over to their stores, to review my visit with them, and since they insisted so much I figure I would say how bad the store is. They don’t really seem to know what they’re doing, whatever revolutionary concept they have, it fails miserably with their kind of slow staff and tbh the store just gives...
