I've lived at Windsor at Dogpatch for the last 3 years and it's definitely been an amazing spot to have started my career when I moved to San Francisco.
For me it was a nice, cozy space, with modern appliances, a good amount of kitchen space, in unit washer/dryer, good layout, and a nice size bathroom. I've also rarely seen any bugs which is also a huge plus for me.
The packages are delivered to the package lockers downstairs in the garage so you can be sure your Amazon packages will be stored in a safe location as well.
Overall 5/5 and would definitely recommend. Thanks so much for the amazing stay, Windsor!
Edit: Unfortunately, in the interest of transparency I need to update my review to 4 stars.
Recently I had a situation with building management where my auto pay on rent had expired without my knowledge. This caused me to not pay exactly on time. I had a single email that came to me from the building manager that I missed, which let me know there was an outstanding balance. ~8 days from the time of the email that I missed (there was only 1 warning), there was a 3 day notice posted on my door which I was shocked to see, given I thought my auto payment was going through and happened to miss the sole notification of rent being missing.
Immediately, I wanted to do anything I could to pay. However, online payment was disabled and I wasn't able to pay online. I emailed building management apologizing for the late pay that I wasn't aware of, and asked about what I thought was a technical difficulty. It turns out my ability to pay online had been disabled because the only payment they would accept would be a money order or cashier's check. I knew this would be a huge hassle to go through so I proposed alternative options such as wire transfer, PayPal, or even paying next months rent right now. None would suffice and there was unfortunately no effort to accommodate, even though I explained the situation and there was agreement it was an honest mistake.
Generally, the response was that those would either not work or the online payment would not be allowed because the payment would be "confirmed" after the 3 day period. The problem was essentially that the payment might bounce after the 3 day period. I can understand the possibility there and the situation from building managements perspective, but having been a long standing resident for 3 years and given the situation was an honest mistake, I feel like discretion could be used to allow an online payment in this situation.
In order to pay instead, I had to do a 2 hour trip (or expensive lyft) to safeway, deal with the people at Safeway requiring cash only to get the money order, then deal with the ATM hitting my withdrawal limit, then calling Capital One to raise my ATM withdrawal limit, then paying the fees for the money orders, etc. It was incredibly stressful and I really wish this experience didn't happen especially so close to when my lease will go up soon because it really did sour the experience/memory of the place for me.
Advice to management: Provide more than 1 reminder before giving a 3 day notice Allow for more alternative instant payment options such as wire transfer or paypal Use discretion as appropriate depending on the situation to allow tenants to submit a payment that will be posted 2 days after the 3 day notice. I understand the concern to give everyone the same experience, but to me imagine if someone has been a resident for a long time and has shown to be able to be trusted: it makes sense to give a bit more leniency there than someone who has been there for 2 months and is already missing payments.
Edit 2: Again, in the interest of transparency: After having gone through all of this, the management staff politely offered to waive the $50 late fee which I greatly appreciated
Edit 3: After speaking with Natallia, I feel much better about the whole situation. I won't go into the details, but the conversation couldn't have gone better and Natallia is definitely an amazing representative...
Read moreWe signed our lease the day before the switch from Abaca to Windsor and were nervous at first. But we have lived here 10 months now and love living here. The Windsor staff have been very nice and helpful, in person; and respond within a day or two to email requests. The leasing company has also been responsive to requests from the residents: additional Luxor lockers (for packages) were added and an additional trolley cart was added (which is great after trips to the grocery story or plant nursery). We noticed the east side of the building has some additional patio areas but we only visit this side of the complex to go to the roof. The roof top is amazing - the large table has heaters and lights above with a BBQ near by. There's plenty of other seating and smaller tables for all view points of the bay, hills and part of downtown; and they've recently added an outdoor TV. The Kitchen and Bar common rooms are nice but we don't really use them and notice not many others do - although it seems like a nice place to work from home. The parking was strange at first but we have gotten used to it and haven't had any issues.
The apartment complex is large and broken up into two parts, which feel like two different complexes. We live on the Tennessee side of the building with outdoor hallways, which make each apartment feel more private. Our Tennessee neighbors are very nice and we've made friends out of our next door neighbors. There is only one touching wall between apartments and it is very thick. We have one of the patios on the second floor and get enough sunlight for a small leafy garden all year around. The patio is large enough for the garden and an outdoor loveseat and table - it's great for brunch or dinner outside. Dog Patch is one of the more sunny and warm areas of SF - we can even grow strawberries on the patio. The size of the apartment is small but still comfortable - in ours there is a bedroom (which looks more like a large closet for us), a large bathroom, and a nice 'everything room' that connects to the patio and makes this room feel big - we've been able to host 6-8 people over for meals.
We just moved from NYC and the neighborhood is our favorite part of SF so far. The Tennessee side of the complex is quiet, but living right next to 3rd street is great. There are so many great shops, restaurants, and bars. We eat at the Neighborhood bakery every weekend - they have incredible pastries, breakfast foods and coffee/espresso (and bread to take home). There is an amazing Fromagerie with imported cheeses that my French partner has to visit every week; and one block away there is an amazing French butcher: Olivier's with beautiful cuts of meat (beef, chicken, duck) and marinades. Mr and Mrs. Miscellaneous home-made ice cream is delicious and just across the street - they have some flavors year around and others that are seasonal, buying a pint and taking it home is a couple bucks more a pint from the store but soooo much better (frozen hot chocolate is a must). Every restaurant around here is delicious, some more upscale than others; and the bars have tasty specialty cocktails. There are a few great breweries in the neighborhood. We love to watch the Warrior's game in the back room of Magnolia Brewery which also has really delicious food.
In all, we absolutely love living here. We know another important aspect of choosing a leasing company is the move out process so we will...
Read moreThe building is located @ 4 1/2 blocks from UCSF Mission Bay. Due to the building being on 3rd St. there is constant street noise and homeless frequent the front, sides and back of the building. The floor plan of the 2 bedroom units is non-functional by regular standards. The Entry, Living room, Dining Area and Kitchen are crammed into one space. The Kitchen spans the length of 1 wall and does not have adequate cabinet or counter space. The sliding glass door and “fake balcony” in the “Kitchen/Dining/Living Area is non-functional as well as the complex has blocked the track so it only opens about 6 inches. There is no purpose to the door as you can not open it far enough to create air flow and when I asked if the bolt could be removed, child safety was cited (As I have No small children in my unit, the choice should be mine). The heat is provided by Baseboard heaters that do not sufficiently heat the unit, thus it is Always cold, unless it’s incredibly hot due to lack of air flow. The Elevators shake and vibrate when in use and the Elevator Safety Certification is dated 2017 , which is when the building was built. When I asked about the Expired Certificate I was told they were waiting for inspection. I find this unacceptable considering other apartment complex’s in SF manage to keep their certificates current. The parking is secure, which is nice, but you Pay Extra for it. The building is dog friendly BUT there is Nothing for them in the complex. Housekeeping also uses strong chemicals (like Pine-Sol, etc.) to mop the floors, so I try to take my dog through the stairwells, but they started using them there as well. The closest grass is @ 2 blocks away. A Pet Deposit was expected, having to pay monthly Pet Rent on top of that is ridiculous. As I stated earlier, there are No Amenities that warrant additional rent for a dog. The appliances are cheap and the amenities are not worth the incredibly high rent. Hope my...
