Cabinet City was GREAT, GREAT, GREAT! They came highly recommended to me by our contractor. The minute I walked into their showroom, I thought, "Wow, what a beautiful neat lay out!" Clean, bright, airy, welcoming and a professional looking staff, organized right there in center of the showroom floor, calmly helping customers. The cabinets are so beautiful. Amazingly helpful and kind staff also helping customers navigate the products on the floor of the large showroom. Our contractor gave JUAN, his point person at Cabinet City who designs the cabinet layouts for their clients, the measurements of our Kitchen and told him what we were looking for for our kitchen remodel - then I met with JUAN, who is a gem, and told him our exact needs in the kitchen. He turned to his computer and had a GORGEOUS LAYOUT THAT HE SHOWED ME IN NO TIME!!! GOREGOUS! We went with it. We also got our bathroom vanities there, which we love. And Juan gave us advice on what side vanity drawers needed to be in relation to the bathroom door, so the drawers wouldn't scrape against doorjamb when opening. I APPRECIATE SOMEONE WHO TAKES THE TIME TO ADVANCE TROUBLESHOOT, and realizes that many, if not most, of their customers are laypeople and do not know what to look for in advance. I appreciated JUAN'S EXPERT AND GENEROUS GUIDANCE. Also Juan was forthcoming on how to save money on supplies, such as using left over quartz counter top from kitchen for one of the bathroom vanities. Every single person I encountered in the showroom was so helpful, patient and kind!!! Helping me select cabinets and countertops. I went to Cabinet City three or four times, as this was my first remodel and I wanted to get it "right." This was one of the most ENJOYABLE parts of the remodel. I actually enjoyed walking around the showroom, looking at all the various options. The clean and beautiful kitchens. AND NOW WE HAVE ONE!!! We have the WHITE SHAKER CABINETS with BLACK HARDWARE and WHITE MARBELED QUARTZ COUNTERS - SO GORGEOUS. And JUAN's layout included TWO LAZY SUSAN'S in either corner. I'VE NEVER HAD A LAZY SUSAN CABINET. I'm over the moon. I told JUAN, "You had me at LAZY SUSAN!" Also, he had created two long stacked pantry cabinets beside our fridge. LOVE THEM!!! We are still getting work done on our new townhome, but I CAN'T WAIT TO MOVE IN AND PLAY HOUSE WITH MY CABINETS. THEY LOOK SO BEAUTIFUL AND BROUGHT ME A LOT OF JOY JUST LOOKING AT THEM, as I swept out our new digs yesterday. Oh, and did I mention there is a BEAUTIFUL RELAXING KOI POND in their showroom? I mean, I think there is, or did I just imagine it? The showroom is GORGEOUS and INSPIRING, makes selecting what you need so easy!!! So, yeah, I'm picky, work hard for my money and love when people pay attention to detail and come through on what they promise, as that is what I try to do in my profession; bottom line, I am not one to lavish praise, unless I feel it is well deserved, and I feel CABINET CITY DESERVES IT. * AN ADDENDUM OF HOW ABSOLUTE GREAT CABINET CITY IS: GARY IN CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS SO EXTRAORDINARILY NICE, PROFESSIONAL AND EMPATHETIC WITH TO ME TODAY - WHEN I HAD TO SORT THROUGH SOME QUESTIONS REGARDING HOW OUR CONTRACTOR (who works for another company, not Cabinet City - I wish I had Cabinet City install my cabinets!!! ANWAY, THIS OTHER "CONTRACTOR" INSTALLED THE CABINETS QUITE POORLY, IF IT WEREN'T SO POORLY, IT WOULD BE COMEDIC. GARY, MY HERO, WORKED WITH ME WITH KINDNESS, HUMOR, GRACE, CALM AND INTELLIGENCE TO HELP ME REMEDY MY PROBLEM AND GET OUR CABINET INSTALLATION UP TO SNUFF. Like I said, earlier in this review, the customer service at Cabinet City is above and beyond and everyone I came into contact with there was intelligent, thoughtful and informed. Can a person be crying when writing a review? I kind of am, because I'm...

Once they have your money, don't expect customer service. I ordered cabinets and worked with Norma and Michael at Cabinet City last August for a kitchen remodel in Austin, TX. They asked whether I would like to pay them to ship the cabinets or ship them myself. I chose to pay Cabinet City to ship them. Unfortunately half of my cabinets went to New York, the other half - plus a mistaken half order meant for New York - arrived in Austin. Mistakes happen, but this one cost me thousands of dollars because I had paid workers to be ready to receive, assemble and install the cabinets.
I politely explained my financial loss due to the mis-shipment to Cabinet City (and the fact that my family was without a functioning home for an extra 2 weeks). They said sure, no problem, we can fix this. I asked for a discount - just a fraction of what the problem was costing me. Cabinet City said they understood and would take care of the situation after everything was corrected and I received my full order. In the meantime they asked if I'd personally re-package the mis-shipped cabinets meant for New York and work with their shipping company to arrange a pick-up time. Mind you, I have a regular job and appointments that don't revolve around Cabinet City or their preferred shipper. I gladly did all they asked, reminding them this is costing me even more now. Their response was "Think of the people in NY who are also going through this. They have the same problem. Let's work together." Agreed.
Finally when the rest of my cabinets arrived in Austin (two weeks late the packaging was all damaged), some colors didn't match and there was damage to some of the material. I contacted Cabinet City to make them aware that the rest of my order arrived. When I asked to talked about a refund, Michael said, "Sorry, take it up with the shippers. We apologize but it wasn't our fault." Huh? I'm sorry but I paid YOU to ship. When I told him this, Michael said he'd put in a formal complaint with the shipper but said I'd probably get nothing out of it. He said I should at least be happy with the quality of the product, which isn't bad, but definitely not worth the way they treat you. There are still parts missing from the order like trash bins that don't fit.
In my opinion Cabinet City was unfair with me and is unethical with customers. When there is a problem they expect the customer to fix it. They made promises to correct the issue only and until I had helped correct their shipping mistake out of my own time and pocket. After they have your money, they couldn't care less.
UPDATE 4/7/18: About a week after this post Michael reached out to me about refunding the original cost of shipping. I wish it were right away after the incident but better late than never. Thankful for something. Anything....
Read moreI cannot express how happy I am with Cabinet City's material and service. I would rate then at 4.5 stars if I could... Read on to find out why.
I'm going to breakdown per project phase:
PRE-PURCHASE (5-STAR): We visited the store several times to decide what would fit or what we liked. We got 5-STAR service every single time. Either Tony or Mike would sit with us and help us with planning, colors, trims, countertops. Super friendly and knowledgeable.
PURCHASE (5-STAR): When it came to making the final purchase, they recommended some changes to our design that actually saved us money!!!
CABINET INSTALLATION (5-STAR): The were 2 guys, whose names I can't remember. They assessed the kitchen and measured again and went to work. Quarter of the way in I realized that I did NOT want molding up top, which meant that the cabinets needed to come off the wall and be reinstalled. Even though, he was 1/4 of way done, he went back and took all the cabinets off the walls and reinstalled to make us happy! The did an EXCELLENT 5-STAR job on the cabinet install. AND.... he installed the bathroom cabinets, which weren't from Cabinet City, for free so the countertop installer could finish his portion, as I had purchased the countertops only from CC. He also came back twice to replace couple of the doors that started cracking as well as replace baseboards that were missing. Really amazing job on the install!
COUNTERTOP INSTALLATION (1-STAR): I do NOT recommend the countertop installer that Cabinet City hires. For the kitchen countertops, I wanted to show only 1 seam so I needed to cut one seam by the faucet and another one in the middle. The installer had a hard time understanding what I needed so I had to get Tony on the phone to explain to him. Once Tony explained how to do the install, he eventually understood and did it right. Also, the kitchen countertops have a slight slope to the back wall so water collects at the seam which i can't stand. I hate the idea of that area becoming moldy and gross over time as my countertops are white. He did a terrible job cutting out the countertop for the farmer sink he installed. There is about a 1-inch gap which is not filled with caulking. YUCK! He did a good job installing the bathroom countertop but whatever pen or pencil he used to mark the countertop for measurements left a mark on it and I still...
