New Century Inn — Hotel in San Gabriel

My husband and I rented one of their Jacuzzi suites for one night. It was pouring rain outside, and we were eager to take a bath and relax. The room that they gave us was at the end of a very dark hallway. I thought the furnishings were tacky; the drapes were too bold and splashy, and didn't match the bedspread. The Jacuzzi tub did not have any directions on how to use it next to the tub. Usually, there is a small sign telling you not to use bubble bath or whatever, and which buttons to push, but there was nothing, and the tub had buttons and knobs that were not intuitive. You just had to push and turn the knobs and see what they did! After filling up the tub and getting in, I went to turn on the water jets, and they would not turn on. I tried to use the room phone to call the front desk, but when I dialed "0" nothing happened. There was no sign or sticker near the phone with the front desk's number. I had to search on my cell phone for the hotel's number, and when I called and asked how to turn on the Jacuzzi, I was told "well, it works, keep pushing buttons." Someone finally came up but I was naked and had to run in the bathroom, which, by the way, IS COMPLETELY SEE-THROUGH; they have glass doors. People had carved gang symbols into the wood on the door, which would not close all the way because the inside knob was missing. Anyway, they couldn't get the tub to work, and we were given the next room over. This might have been WORSE! There was a trash can on top of the dresser to collect the rain that was leaking through the ceiling. WATER WAS LEAKING ONTO THE BED and in lots of other places, too. We had to sleep on an edge of the bed because the other side was wet. I loved the Jacuzzi in the second room, but it was a nightmare with the leaks. I will never stay here again, however if I could give this place 2.5 stars in the interest of being fair I would. I just look for something clean and safe when I travel and my expectations are not unreasonably high. There were no bugs, no transients and safe, free parking was available. The room was large, reasonably clean and very quiet. Free Wifi on site. There was a functioning but not functioning very well air conditioning unit on a very hot day. There are a few continental breakfast items available and coffee should you venture down to the front desk area in the morning. There were some cleaning issues (long black hairs on the bathroom floor, small dried smears of I don't want to know what in different places on the walls) but nothing too hard to stomach. The check in experience was about as far away from warm and welcoming as you can get. The swimming pool area, such as it was, hosted the most uninviting pool I have ever seen (although it appeared to be clean and did have water in it). This hotel is on Las Tunas Boulevard in the city of Alhambra/San Gabriel. The rooms are rundown the toilets do not work the shower has hot and cold water you'll never be able to get it correctly and they only give you one set of towels for two people. The Coke machine in the hallway on the first floor is always empty. The breakfast that they serve in the morning is a role and coffee but if you're not Chinese you won't enjoy it.||The bad part about this hotel is don't use a credit card pay cash when you leave. Every time I have stayed in this hotel they will charge your credit card double and then you have to argue with them or call your bank for an unauthorized charge this is common practice at this hotel.||A lot of Lyft and Uber drivers stay at this hotel because it's so cheap buyer beware. You'll also see Rats running around the parking lot at night so this place honestly is no good.||There are other hotels in the area like Best Western Holiday Inn or Embassy Suites all provide a clean environment for you and your family.||If I could give this place a minus 10 I would but it's just getting a...
