I recently attended the 528 Tufting Workshop in San Jose, hosted by Sean—and I can’t recommend it enough! This was my very first time making a rug, and it turned out to be an unforgettable experience. I created a custom Drake OVO rug, and I’m beyond proud of how it came out—seriously, it looks amazing.
Sean was a fantastic host. He was welcoming, patient, and extremely knowledgeable. He made sure everyone felt comfortable, no matter their skill level. The workshop was well-structured, which made the whole process easy to follow, even for a complete beginner like me.
The studio space itself was clean, creative, and fully stocked with high-quality materials. The entire vibe of the workshop was fun, supportive, and inspiring. I appreciated how hands-on the experience was—we were guided through each step, but still had the freedom to really personalize our rugs.
If you’ve been thinking about trying something new, I highly recommend booking a session with 528 Tufting Workshop. Whether you’re an artist, a creative, or just want a great time with friends, this is 100% worth it. I’ll definitely be...
Read moreHad such a fun time! I think the medium-sized frame ended up being a bit much, but we found out there wasn’t actually a time limit—so that took the pressure off. If I were to do it again, I’d definitely choose a smaller frame. David was an amazing instructor and always came by to help whenever we needed it. The biggest downside was that some of the yarn kept slipping out of the tufting gun, so I had to constantly reload it—which ate up a lot of class time and got pretty frustrating. Also, we had actually booked the zero-gravity experience, but didn’t realize until halfway through that we were doing the manual one instead. By then, my arms were already sore! Definitely a bummer. One suggestion: adding a double spool holder would make a big difference. It’s so easy to accidentally step on a spool and throw off the tension.
Overall though, it was a super fun (and very labor-intensive) experience that I’m still...
Read moreMy first tufting experience here was amazing! David was an excellent teacher at explaining the mechanics and giving us tips to help us with our rugs. I didn’t expect to tuft for over 5 hours so I’d definitely recommend bringing a snack and water because you will be HUNGRY. Also I’d recommend bringing a hair tie too if you have long hair so it doesn’t get snagged on the tufting gun! Overall, it’s an easy process—just tedious but all the employees are very kind and will give you pointers to help...
