The best overall Korean food staples the in Bay Area goes to… SHIN’S TOFU! Why? All the Korean staples are here and they’re chef’s kiss. You like seafood pancake? This place has the best. You like kimchi pancake? Probably actually the actual best kimchi pancake in NorCal (I can never decide between the kimchi and seafood pancake) You like spicy pork? It’s phenomenal. You like galbi? Worth every penny. Budae jjigae / army stew? Delicious. Don’t get me started on what it’s known for - the tofu soup. Also every single side dish is actually so good. I can taste immediately that it’s fresh and made in house. The flavor is on point and I feel healthy eating vegetables that are actually yummy. Also, the service is A+ and they are so nice.
Whenever I’m in the area, this is my must have restaurant, except that it’s usually very busy. I ask my little sister what she wants and she always says Shin’s tofu but I have to think of the time of day and what day to go to make sure the wait isn’t too long. I hope they expand one day so there’s...
Read morePerfect for a winter rainy day! My boyfriend really wanted soft tofu soup and I haven't had them for awhile. Definitely hit the spot
We came here around 8pm Thursday night. There was only one other party ahead of us, so we got seated after 5-10 minutes. We both ordered the beef intestine tofu soup. The banchan came quickly, I was so hungry I scarfed down most of the japchae before the food came. kinda oily tho. I enjoyed alll their banchan! they were happy to refill the japchae, fish cake and pickled radish
Beef intestine tofu soup was good. I ordered the mild, just a lil spicy -- which I liked because I could eat more and faster. Sadly, the amount of beef intestine was not as much other places. but we were still really full at the end. the tofu soup was $17.99 each
this place is small and in the same plaza as wuji mala house! probably could fit like 25 people max. they were playing music videos on their tv. it was only music videos with k pop stars in it, but not limited...
Read moreOoohh this Korean hot spot serves up all the right ingredients, flavors, and freshness! I loved that everything came out piping hot!
We ordered: $18 - seafood tofu soup at medium spicy level, $33 - the galbi short ribs on a sizzling hot plate with sliced onions $23 - bibimbap with bulgogi (hot stone bowl with marinated beef, veggies, white rice, and a fried egg on top
The galbi was marinated so well, the meat was tender and seared perfectly. The seafood tofu soup included prawns, sliced octopus, squid, tiny mussels and tasted so fresh. All of the dishes were absolutely delicious, including the bon chon (small side veggie dishes to accompany the meal).
The restaurant itself is small serving no more than 30 people from what I could tell. Gives it an intimate feel when you're rubbing elbows with your...
