Cardenas Markets — Local services in San Jose

ROSA and ELODIA give horrible service in the prepared food area. These ladies should not be working here.

I went in today October 29 at around 6:30pm. We ordered a Taquiza Combo which includes pico de gallo, rice, beans, meat.

When ROSA and ELODIA started serving my combo, they did not want to give me any pico de gallo, but instead started filling it with salsa.

I told them that the picture on the menu shows pico de gallo, not salsa. They both said “la foto aya enseña una cosa y acá hacemos lo que queremos”. They basically said the photo up there shows one thing but we do what we want over here.

Horrible service, they said the pico de gallo is separate and tried to charge me for it. Outrageous, since other Cardenas locations do give the pico de gallo in the Taquiza combo.

Also, they tried to not give me the free advertised 2 liter soda. The photos advertise a free 2 liter soda with the taquiza combo (on the whole other side of the room) and they tried saying that you had to ask for it before we paid. But how could we have known about it, if they advertise the free soda on the other side of the room?? You can’t even see it when you are paying. Sneaky service.

And all this with them rolling their eyes at us.

I like the food from that grocery store. The people from the restaurant are really nice but it’s very disappointing that the cashiers are so rude they give you dirty looks and they’re criticizing you they laugh in your face and they cut you off when you’re trying to speak to them. They should not be hiring really young people cause they are so rude. I’ve been there a few times in the night and they are making fun of the people who go grocery shopping making fun of how they walk and how their dress One of the girls was copying one of the ladies how she walked in they were laughing that’s so disrespectful and very immature and they’re always on their phone. That type of rudeness will make a person not want to go buy there no more they need to hire people who not rude Who have respect for the customers? We were there with my husband. Trying to eat I had just 30 minutes break. We asked for 6 tacos which it took them 35 minutes to made them. The lady with glasses at the kitchen, my respect. She was running back and forth taking customers, cooking, cashing by herself when the other 2 employees were doing nothing. When I got near the counter to ask if my tacos were ready, one of the other 2 ladies came after touching money, and no washing hands try to make my food. I told her and what i get was a really bad attitude. I know about food safety and the procedures that you need to follow when you work with food. After all I was trying to talk with the manager and we got more attitude.

It’s sad how Cardenas and their employees don’t care...
