Chase Ace Hardware Garden & Gift Emporium — Local services in San Rafael

I’m not a local. I was in town for a family event and needed a last minute gift. I had no clue where to go. A local mentioned the Chase Ace Hardware & Gift Emporium. San Rafael CA. So off I went. This place did not disappoint.

The nursery was stocked with gorgeous, healthy plants (outdoor and indoor varieties). They had a great curated gift selections including houseware, kitchenware, artisan jewelry, leather goods, and small gifts. The items were practical, quality, aesthetically beautiful, and priced on point. The indoor shop is compact but packed with a variety of items. Same with the outdoor nursery.

The staff was friendly and helpful. I mentioned my mug purchase was a gift, so she asked if I wanted it boxed. She wrapped it in tissue and placed it into a box. Great customer service.

The shop has a parking lot with limited spaces. There are metered street parking spots out front as well; Sundays are a free...

Chase Ace's nursery has a great selection of plants in their garden center- in fact they had the exact ones that we were looking for! The staff is very helpful and friendly and new exactly where everything was in the store and outside. Also, I sent a client in after my visit to pick up some plants that I had "scoped out" earlier and Sandra (Sondra?) In the garden center was awesome enough to remember the conversation that it had with her earlier in the day regarding specific plants needed for the client's yard. Just had the worst customer experience here and will never go back - bought two succulents about five weeks ago that died after watering them once. I tried to exchange them for new ones and they said that it was past the one month exchange timeframe. They offered to tell me how to care for my plants. I told them that any other plant store in the area exchanges plants for up to a year, no questions asked, they didn’t care and said they wouldn’t budge.
