On Sunday, April 21, I took 13 guests to breakfast at IHOP San Rafael and when it was time to pay, I left the change with the waiter who was charging at that time. We had not yet left our table and the manager came to tell us that we are obliged to leave a tip. Because there were many of us and if we didn't leave a tip they would deduct the employees' salaries. It was a shame that that lady put us through as customers because she did it almost shouting and in front of all the customers who were in the restaurant at that time, we were customers. d all Sundays but really with that treatment we will never eat in that restaurant again. I can understand why this place get's low reviews, really I can. But I'm here to buck tradition and give them a bit of a boost. The place is fine, it's dingy to put it at best but that's the allure of a good diner, no?
The service we had was great - the server was attentive and accommodating to our different requests. It was around 5:30 so all of the senior citizens had long finished their dinner and we had the restaurant to ourselves nearly.
They did start vacuuming while we were sitting in there, making us think they closed around 6/7 but fun fact they were open until 10pm so I guess they were just bored. Good news is they clean the place!
The food was good, the carbs and sugar filled us up and made us feel super fat afterwards. Don't worry, I got a Diet Coke to balance things out. Turns out that doesn't make a dent in all the syrup I poured on top of my Cinnamon Roll Pancake.
