This place we discovered by yes, doing a Google search for Mexican food. The ratings are true. I love a basic chicken nachos. It is very hard to find any that are not one large pile of cheese on nachos and little else. I found these to be above and beyond and they were truly fantastic. Finally, a go-to spot for us on the weekends. Husband had the mole, which I also love and it was equally as good. I stuck with Coke but he had the margaritas and said they were yummy. We left with a bill for around $90 for two people. Husband had two margaritas. It seems a lot but the food and service were great. We look forward to going back and trying other items off the menu.
For the nachos, I asked for a side of sour cream and noticed a $2.00 charge on the bill. For my Coke, I hesitated after ordering as I somehow knew they would bring me a small glass bottle of the Mexican version, with real cane sugar. I would have been fine with regular and refills. I should not have let the waiter leave with out clarifying since I was not asked or provided options, which I would...

Read moreThis evening we dined “al fresco“ at the newly opened Sabor de Mexico in San Rafael - it was FANTASTIC! They seemed to have a new twist on old favorites and some new dishes I plan to come back for. I chose the 5 tacos to try 5 different meats and each was excellent - so fresh, so clean and so delicious: Pastor, Carnitas, Shrimp, Salmon and Lengua served with a green grilled onion, grilled jalapeño and radish slices. The salsas were quite scrumptious, make sure to try the creamy (vegan) green salsa - so good. We had an appetizer, I forget the name, which were like lightly fried empanada rolls stuffed with cheese and vegetables with a different sort of fresh green cilantro salsa, they too were great. Solid 5 stars with excellent customer service. Make sure to meet the owners Hegal and Milton, such nice guys and Hegal is a wealth of information about the origins of all the different dishes - not to mention his...
