Reluctant Windows/MS Office user. Mac is not an option. No getting off this train. No Microsoft tech support. Northbay to the rescue. Real human beings in a real brick and mortar shop. They tweak and twerk this infuriating box, slap it in the face, throw water on it, mouth to mouth reccesitation. Frankenstein rises from the dead. Crucial data files rescued. They school me in backup, train me a bit of os and other stuff. Northbay is highly ethical. What do they gain from schooling me in backup so I don't need them to rescue me? What do they gain telling me not to fix my computer when it's cheaper to buy new. This standard of ethics must have been expensive to maintain as the cost of tech plummeted. EDIT: just downgraded from 4 to 3 stars. Was just charged $275 for a Windows10 upgrade re-installation, plus a malware sweep and some driver updates. Northbay has seemingly gone from expensive to gouging. Their in-store hourly labor rate also went up from $90 to $110--in nine months. ............... Have been taking both my PC desktops and laptops to them for over four years now. They're quick, effective, courteous--and quite expensive.

Which is why I've given them only 4 stars. Their growing popularity has caused them to sharply raise their prices in the last two years.

Consider them a quality and utterly reliable--but premium priced--local repair service when you don't want to schlepp your hardware...

I have gone to Northbay Computers on three separate occasions. Each time, they quickly diagnosed the problem (failed hard drive twice, and failed video card once).
