TL;DR— if you don’t like the estimated time given when selling and you don’t want to do a drop-off, just whine until the associates cave in and push your items ahead of the line of people who came in before you! I was given an estimate of 30-35 minutes and ended up being there for almost 90 because of this :)
I walked in at 2:31 PM and was greeted by the associate who checked me in, acknowledged my three bags of items to sell, and said “there’s only 2 people ahead of you so it shouldn’t be too long, probably around 30-35 minutes!” This sounded great to me and I chose to stay in store; I had an appointment to get to at 4pm, but even if the estimated time doubled, I would’ve had enough time to leave on time.
However, not too long after I arrived, another woman walked in saying she had clothes to drop off. After being informed of the policies, she immediately complained about the drop-off policy because she wanted to get errands done during the time her clothes were appraised and didn’t want to stay and “do nothing.” The associates restated to her the two options- to drop off her clothes and collect the payout before 8pm, or to stick around in the store for about 30-ish minutes until her clothes were ready. The woman was still unsure and mentioned she really only had 30 minutes, so the associates said they could do their best to have her offer done as soon as possible in the time she had. Of course, this woman left with her offer while my sorted clothes were awaiting appraisal, therefore getting bumped ahead of me in line.
I did not receive an offer until 3:55pm, nearly an hour and a half after I arrived and was given an estimated time of 30-35 minutes, essentially tripling the time expected. By the time I received my offer, I was so upset and didn’t have time to collect the items that didn’t sell, as I had originally planned to do, because I was in such a rush to leave at that point. After almost an hour of waiting, my clothes had already been sorted and were just waiting to be appraised, which is why I continued to wait, as I also didn’t want to do drop-off and wanted the clothes back that didn’t sell. Furthermore, I didn’t feel it was fair that I would have to switch to drop-off, after waiting an hour/double my estimated time, even though my clothes were already sorted and just sitting there. The appraisal process was also slowed down by several distractions, including associate switch-outs/breaks/and having to answer questions about mannequins, not to mention the side conversation by the associates behind the counter.
I find it incredibly disappointing and unnerving that because I followed and respected the store policies and didn’t complain about the wait time when I first came in, I was essentially punished and pushed further down the line behind other guests that walked in after me. The unfairness and emotional stress, let alone being 20 minutes late to my appointment, caused from this experience isn’t right and there are store policies for a reason. All to say, I learned that to get better treatment and quicker service when selling clothes at Uptown Cheapskate, complain and about the policies and whine about why you deserve special treatment over someone else who is simply doing the right thing and trying to...
Read morei’ve sold clothes here twice now and the second time was a nightmare. I took a bunch of free people, Lululemon, and other brand names with most tags still attached and was trying to sell them. They didn’t accept 60% of them which was annoying but I understand they buy seasonally, so it’s whatever. Their policy has changed so you have to be basically in store the whole time that they’re checking your clothes if you want to get the remainder of your clothes back (the ones they don’t accept). Fine, I waited and sat in one of three chairs they had, it was broken so that was fun but I’d take breaking chair over no chair. So I waited in store for about two hours which I expected but then when I went to try stuff on they ended up calling my name and I very clearly told one of the people who work there that I was in the dressing room and not even 2 minutes later they called my name again and told me I needed to hurry up because they accepted too much inventory. 1. Not my problem, you’re the employees, figure it out. 2. Seems really rude to make someone wait two hours and then tell them to hurry up, but I stopped trying on my handful of items, got my things and rushed. It seemed even the girl organizing clothes by the try on counter was embarrassed because she apologized profusely and told me she’d hold my try-on clothes behind the counter for me. While walking to the counter to grab the remainder of my buy, the girls working there were LOUDLY snickering and making fun of some other person’s items that were brought to be sold. It honestly made me feel really bad for whoever it was, and I’m sure they made fun of my clothes too. They gave me a half a**ed “sorry but we have a big buy for you!” as if the payout was going to give them a pass on their behavior. I’ve worked retail and no part of their behavior was appropriate. Maybe try hiring older people or give them basic and proper training on etiquette and manners. Would rather drive 30 min to the Roswell location where...
Read moreBEWARE. SHADYYYY BUSINESS PRACTICE. I am in the middle of moving and decided to stop here to sell some of my newer clothes. I walked in and dropped off a bucket at the front desk. I checked in on the iPad and had to sign a form that states that the items they take will listed for sale, but did not explain I have no choice once I return to the store. Little did I know AND this was never explained to me by the associate is that if I leave the store, they will not show me the items they took AND I can’t decline the offer. What is the point of resale if you can’t even decline the offer??? I’ve been to the Kennesaw location before so I didn’t expect a different process. When I returned to pick up my items, which they didn’t even call or email me, I just called 8 hours later and they said it was ready for pick up. If I never would have called to see if it was ready, they would have donated all of my items without my consent. I checked back in with my number and the associate told me I could have $37 cash for 13 items or $47 for in store credit. She didn’t even have my items in front of her. I asked her well where are my items and what you took? She said I fully signed into agreement that whatever they wanted they could take it if I left the store. So keep in mind if you bring in high price tag items they will lowball and you can’t even get them back or decline the offer. This is NOT clear at all in the agreement you sign either. If you drop your shoes off that are valued $200+, expect $20 bucks and not even able to decline the offer. I don’t know how these people sleep at night running such a shady business. The employees and the manager are a bunch of high school teenagers with a bad attitude. Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Plato’s closet is a million times better and they even were shocked when I told them about this...
