I was in a bind when my in-laws decided they wanted to throw away a family heirloom they considered trash. My husband wanted to rescue this beautiful piece of furniture, but it needed refurbishing. I didn’t know who to turn to and started making a bunch of phone calls. Someone at Parker Upholstery kindly directed me to Dan the Furniture Man.
I rang him up, he responded right away and requested that I send him photos. He then immediately arranged for a moving team to pick-up the bar from my in-laws the following week. Dan literally helped me save this precious piece of furniture in the nick of time. He communicated to me that they had quite a few projects ahead of mine and that it would be a few months before they could work on it. I was more than okay with this because honestly, perfection simply cannot be rushed and well, he did me more than a solid by agreeing to store the bar in his shop while it waited to be refurbished.
He later informed me that his son, Arthur, would be taking on the task of refurbishing it. I later received a phone call from Arthur and he told me his thoughts on how he would proceed with the project. I was more than thrilled that work would commence soon.
The day of the delivery, Arthur and his assistant, personally delivered the bar to my house. They flawlessly moved it up my stairway without hitting any walls and then proceeded to assemble it. The work they did is Simply Amazing. My husband and I are completely enamored with the work that Arthur did on this beautiful antique bar! It is just absolutely Gorgeous!
I have every confidence in this family company and their woodworking talents. So much so that the day they delivered my bar, I asked them if they could refurbish my Grandmother’s cedar chest and my Great Grandmother’s rocking chair.
Again, anyone reading this, please understand that the process of refurbishing antique furniture is not something that can be rushed. We may live in a world with expectations of immediate gratification, but it needs to be understood that this type of work requires time and patience. Dan and Arthur know what their doing, their work is phenomenal and thus, they should not be pressured or rushed.
I would definitely recommend Dan the Furniture Man and his son, Arthur, to anyone looking to get their precious wooden antiques refurbished. I have an immense sense of gratitude and owe them a tremendous thanks for everything they did to help me with my bar because, well, without them, this piece was destined for a landfill. And I cannot wait to see the other pieces of furniture they are currently...

I brought in a china cabinet, which is a beloved family heirloom, and much like the other reviewer on here, I was promised a 6-8 week time frame which quickly turned into over 20 weeks! The communication was lacking from the beginning. I was never contacted about any delay. I always had to reach out and was met with vague time estimates. I thought I was going to an experienced refinisher, turns out to be the much younger, inexperienced, son of the named owner. He does not know how to clearly communicate, is unorganized, even showed up at my home with samples thinking it was another customer's house. It's clear that the older reviews were from the original owner's work. The piece is ruined. The colors are mix-matched throughout. Finishes are different sheens, some being shiny and others being matte. I had to send the pieces back more than once for reprocessing. The final straw was when I agreed to pay an additional $475 to repair cracks within the piece that appeared after the refinishing was "complete," It was kept another 6 weeks, only to discover he painted it instead, and had no recollection of his plan to make the repairs, instead he tried to convince me that repainting was what we agreed to. I have video camera footage from our conversation which my security system picked up, as well as text messages to the contrary. My heart is broken every single time I look at this piece. I spent over $2,000 and wasted approximately 7 months dealing with this....

Dan and associates did a phenomenal job repairing it. It was very difficult because of the moving parts, all original. They managed to use all the original wood and you can’t even see where it was broken when you open it up! I am so impressed with the care that they took - and you wouldn’t believe how heavy this thing is to move around! If you want a professional job done, Dan is the Man! Thank you so...
