Rod and his team are just outstanding. My family and I selected this gym based on location, value and atmosphere.
The gym is centrally located, near Santana Row ,and within easy walking distance of many fine shops and restaurants, including three sporting goods stores so no out-of-the-way side trips need to be made to obtain quality gym wear and support equipment. Parking is always readily available either in the front parking lot or on the feeder street in front. The parking lot and gym are well lit, with cameras in the appropriate locations. I have always felt safe while working out here, even during late-night or early morning hours.
Despite the excellent location and access, the cost is very reasonable for the amenities, including numerous machines, free weights, a squat rack, Smith bar, room for yoga or floor work, and a massage table. Three restrooms are available (mens, womens, and a single person shower-bath). Unlike other Snap locations, this one is staffed during the most popular hours (something like 9am-8pm weekdays, and 7am-12noon on Saturdays). The staff is quite knowledgeable and friendly, and they offer a wide range of individual and small-group coaching in addition to the basic equipment use arrangement. When not assisting members the staff will typically clean machines or re-rack weights so that the entire gym, including the bathrooms, are always clean and well-maintained.
The atmosphere is decidedly laid back for both members and staff. People are always willing to let others work in when things get a little busy, and we have made friends with several of the other members. In the four years we have been attending I have never seen a single "roid-head" stacking on the plates and grunting his way to an overdeveloped body. Instead, the members range in age from late teens to seniors, with a high level of diversity that lines up with the general Silicon Valley demographic. The staff are available, but not intrusive. They always greet us by name upon entering or leaving, but never hover or act like they are watching us. Instead, they will wait for a member to ask or demonstrate an obvious need for assistance, and then provide excellent guidance on how to use a given machine or perform a given exercise.
This is about the 20th gym we have used over the years, and by far it is the nicest in terms of atmosphere and cleanliness. I highly recommend Santa Clara Snap Fitness to anyone interested in this...
Read moreAbsolutely avoid. I live a couple blocks away and had a membership here for awhile pre-covid. The experience wasn't terrible. The gym has all of the standard fitness equipment. People who enjoy free weights might find it annoying there is only a single power cage and one smith machine for use with a bar (a great amount of dumbbells though), but otherwise it's your average gym. I used to recommend it to the people I knew.
This was before the nightmare that IS canceling my membership. I say IS and not WAS because I sent the paperwork to cancel my membership, signed, back in December of 2020. I was told my membership would be canceled and I would still be billed for that last month of January as per my agreement. I was more than fine with that.
It's currently August of 2021 as of writing this and I am still going back and forth with the franchise owner Rod about the fact my card continues...
Read moreStaff here are top notch! I want to especially call upon Chante as he really went above and beyond my expectations on my situation. He was very patient and understanding while I was explaining myself, whereas I can’t say the same for other gyms. I do not want to get into too much details, but I am glad to have him help me with getting me a membership! I was also able to talk to Joe (owner) and understand how he has such great staff working with him!
1 year later after this review, I am still extremely happy with the staff here. Stephanie and Chante always goes above and beyond...
